be physically and mentally capable of satisfactory performance of job duties <br /> assigned in the formally held position. An equivalent position may be offered if the <br /> former position no longer exists. A medical examination may be required at the <br /> discretion of the Director of Human Resources. <br /> 3. Any employee on Long Term Military Leave who is discharged with less than an <br /> Honorable Discharge shall not be eligible for further supplemental pay or other <br /> benefits provided to employees. Such instances shall be considered as the <br /> employee having resigned without notice and shall only be eligible for mandated <br /> provisions of State and/or Federal law. <br /> 4. Employees on Long Term Military Leave with dependent health coverage can <br /> continue medical coverage for dependents through payroll deductions during the <br /> active duty period. <br /> 5. When the employee returns to work in accordance with these provisions, benefits <br /> will be in accordance with State and/or Federal law. <br /> 6. Accruals for sick leave, annual leave or floating holidays shall occur during a Long <br /> Term Military Leave. The period of Military Leave shall not be considered as a <br /> break in service, but shall be considered a leave of absence. <br /> 7. During Long Term Military Leave, contributions and service credits for any <br /> retirement plan shall be in accordance with State and/or Federal law. <br /> 8. Employees on Long Term Military Leave shall remain at their current dollar value <br /> of their current pay during Military Leave. For future earnings, the employee's <br /> current pay will be adjusted to the new minimum pay for their position, if necessary, <br /> upon the employee's return to work. New minimum pays may have been <br /> established during Long Term Military Leave. <br /> 9. Probationary statuses shall remain in effect until the employee completes and <br /> successfully passes any such status after Long Term Military Leave. <br /> 10.Job anniversary dates shall not be effected by any Long Term Military Leave. <br /> 11.Depending upon the period of service, employee shall report to work or submit an <br /> application for reemployment in accordance with State and/or Federal law. <br /> Policy 703:3—Military Leave Page 3 of 3 <br /> 106 <br />
