City of Sunny Isles Beach <br /> Personnel Policy and Procedure <br /> .o• <br /> Policy Name HIRING <br /> Policy Number 203:1 <br /> Effective Date 10/1/04 <br /> Revision Date(s) 5/18/17 <br /> Prepared By, Title _ Human Resources Director <br /> Approved By, Title City Manager <br /> PURPOSE: <br /> To establish a solid and comprehensive hiring policy in order to recruit highly qualified <br /> applicants, ensure uniformity in personnel practices and comply with laws that regulate <br /> hiring practices. <br /> DEFINITION/APPLICATION: <br /> All applicants and/or employees of the City of Sunny Isles Beach. <br /> POLICY: <br /> It is the policy of the City to be an equal opportunity employer and to hire individuals solely <br /> on the basis of their qualifications and ability to do the job to be filled. Unless otherwise <br /> provided in writing, employment with the City is considered to be at-will, so that either <br /> party may terminate the relationship at any time and for any lawful reason. All sourcing <br /> and recruitment for open positions is performed in accordance with federal, state, and <br /> county laws, and the City Charter and City laws through the Human Resources <br /> Department. (See Employment-At-Will, policy 106:1) <br /> PROCEDURE: <br /> 1) Supervisors and department heads who need to fill a job opening or want to add a <br /> new job position should submit an employment requisition form through the Human <br /> Resources Department to the City Manager for approval. All requisitions will be <br /> reviewed, but those for new job positions will be evaluated in greater detail before <br /> being approved. <br /> 2) The City, at its discretion, may attempt to fill job openings above entry level by <br /> promoting from within, if qualified internal applicants are available.
