<br />Request for Clarification No. 2 <br /> <br />CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH <br />CONSTRUCTION OF WALL UNDER THE WILLIAM LEHMAN CAUSEWAY <br />CITY RFP NO.13-10-02 <br /> <br />To All Bidders: <br /> <br />Bidders for the above referenced project shall take note of the following changes, additions, <br />deletions, clarifications, etc. to the Plans and Specifications, which in accordance with the <br />Contract Documents shall become a part of and have precedence over anything shown or <br />described otherwise. <br /> <br /> Questions/Clarifications: <br /> <br />1. Section 2.22 of the Special Terms & Condition identifies Liquidated Damages in the <br />amount of $400.00 for failure to complete the project within the time stated. Please <br />provide allowable calendar days to complete the project. <br /> <br />Response: All bids shall be based on the following construction duration: <br /> 90 days for substantial completion of work in accordance with the bid <br />documents <br /> 30 days for completion of work identified by City punch list <br /> <br />2. Plans require the helical piles to be galvanized please clarify allowable galvanization <br />process (Hot Dipped Galvanizing, Metallizing Electro-galvanizing). <br /> <br />Response: Allowable galvanization process: “Hot Dipped Galvanized” <br /> <br />3. Additional time will be required for the fabrication of the piles please confirm <br />procurement period allowed prior to starting contract time. <br /> <br />Response: In no case shall fabrication/procurement of material take longer than 6 weeks. <br /> <br />4. If the piles do not achieve capacity at the design penetration of 11.5’ how will the city <br />handle the overrun of piles? <br /> <br />Response: On sheet S-2, foundation note number 1 states that to achieve the pile <br />capacity of 15 tons in tension and compression, the pile penetration is estimated to be <br />11.5 ft. Contractor shall provide shop drawings indicating the proposed penetration <br />depth to achieve this capacity. <br /> <br />END OF SECTION
