SECTION 01723 <br /> <br />PROTECTION OF ADJACENT CONSTRUCTION <br /> <br /> <br />PART 1 GENERAL <br /> <br />1.01 SUMMARY <br /> <br />A. The underground utilities, structures, and other facilities shown in the Drawings <br />are located according to the best information available, but may very by several <br />feet from both the location and elevation shown. <br /> <br />1. Explore far enough in advance of his main trench to determine the exact <br />location and condition of utilities, structures, or facilities so that, before the <br />pipe is installed, the ENGINEER may change the line or grade of the pipe, <br />should that become necessary to avoid a conflict. <br /> <br />B. Cost for changing the grade of the proposed main downward or upward in order <br />to clear obstructions located differently than shown in the Drawings, or not <br />shown in the Drawings, shall be included in the price established in the <br />Proposal for the new depth of cut range that the main is installed in. <br /> <br />C. Where the main is deflected either horizontally or vertically, and the ENGINEER <br />requires additional work and items such as paving, air release valve <br />assemblies, and similar items for which a pay item was established in the <br />proposal, additional work and items will be paid for at the price bid. <br /> <br />D. Determine the locations of recent additions to the systems and not shown in the <br />Drawings. <br /> <br />1. Exercise extreme to prevent damage to utilities resulting from contract <br />activities. <br /> <br />2. The location of the overhead utilities shall be verified and the ENGINEER <br />notified of conflict which might occur. <br /> <br />3. Comply with the requirements of the utility companies and the ENGINEER <br />for determining which poles will need shoring during excavation and shall <br />provide shoring and support as required. <br /> <br />E. Where it is necessary to temporarily interrupt house or building services, notify <br />the house or building owner or occupant, both before the interruption and again <br />immediately before service is resumed. <br /> <br />1.
