H. Top Rail <br /> <br />1. Provide 1 5/8 inch O. D., hot dipped galvanized steel, and weight 2.27 <br />pounds per lineal foot rails. <br /> <br />2. Provide outside type six (6) inch long couplings and joined at approximate <br />twenty (20) feet intervals top rails. <br /> <br />3. The top rail is to pass through line post tops to form a continuous brace end <br />to end of each stretch of fence. <br /> <br />I. Braces <br /> <br />1. Make brace pipe the same as top rail and install midway between the top <br />rail and ground and extend from the terminal post to the first adjacent line <br />post. <br /> <br />2. Securely fastened brace pipe to posts with malleable iron rail end cap and <br />have beveled edge pressed steel brace band with bolt, then trussed from <br />line post to base of terminal post with a 3/8 inch truss rod and tightener. <br /> <br />3. On runs of fence requiring two (2) line post or less, omit truss rod assembly <br />and install a continuous center brace rail. <br /> <br />J. Miscellaneous Hardware <br /> <br />1. Provide steel, malleable iron, or ductile iron: stops, latches, keepers, post <br />caps, barb wire supporting arms, fasteners, and hardware. <br /> <br />2. Provide hot dip galvanizing after fabrication, using zinc grade E, in <br />accordance with Federal Specification QQ-2-Z-51 with a minimum of 1.2 <br />ounces of zinc per square foot of surface. <br /> <br />K. Gate Hardware <br /> <br />1. Provide galvanized finish conforming to ASTM A 153. <br /> <br />2. Size hinges and the material must suit the gate size, non-lift-off type, offset <br />to permit 180 degree gate opening; 1-1/2 pairs. <br /> <br />3. Use forked type or plunger-bar type latch to permit operation from either <br />side of the gate, with padlock eye as an integral part of the latch. <br /> <br />4. Use mushroom type gate stops flush plates with anchors, set in concrete, <br />and designed to engage center drop rod or plunger-bar. <br />a.
