3.02 PREPARATION <br /> <br />A. Apply a soil sterilizer to top soil per manufacturer's direction. <br /> <br />1. Seeding shall not commence until after the proper time recommended by the <br />manufacturer. <br /> <br />B. Till fertilizer into top two (2) inches of soil at rate of 12 lbs/1000 sq. ft. <br /> <br />C. Water dry topsoil to depth of five (5) inches at least forty eight (48) hours prior to <br />seeding to obtain a loose friable seed bed. <br /> <br />3.03 APPLICATION <br /> <br />A. Broadcast half of seed with mechanical seeder. <br /> <br />B. Broadcast remaining half of seed at right angles to first seeding pattern, using <br />same broadcast method. <br /> <br />C. Apply seed at 10 lbs./1000 sq. ft. <br /> <br />D. Cover seed to depth of one-eighth (1/8) inch by racking, harrowing, and <br />cultivating. <br /> <br />E. Roll seeded area with roller weighing maximum of 150 lbs./ft. of width. <br /> <br />1. Make two (2) passes. <br /> <br />F. Spread mulch uniformly to completely cover seeded area. <br /> <br />G. Water seeded areas to depth of six (6) inches immediately after seeding/rolling <br />operations. <br /> <br />3.04 PROTECTION <br /> <br />A. Immediately after seeding, erect barricades and warning signs as necessary to <br />protect seeded areas from foot and vehicular traffic until grass is established. <br /> <br />3.05 ESTABLISHMENT <br /> <br />A. Watering <br /> <br />1. Keep soil moist during seed germination period. <br /> <br />2.
