Protect structural steel items from weather properly stored off the floor and <br />grade in a manner satisfactory to the ENGINEER. <br /> <br />B. Protect structural steel items from corrosion. <br /> <br />3.04 PAINTING <br /> <br />A. Remove rust, mill scale, and weld slag from steel surfaces using commercial <br />blast in accordance with SSPC-SP-6-63. <br /> <br />1. Remove weld splatter and surface roughness by chipping and grinding <br />smooth. <br /> <br />2. Perform blasting indoors to produce a mil profile for optimum adhesion of the <br />primer. <br /> <br />3. Sand blasting shall be accepted. <br /> <br />B. Prepared surfaces shall be thoroughly dry and free from preparation dust and <br />foreign matter prior to the application of coating. <br /> <br />1. Craftsmen applying protective coatings shall be thoroughly familiar with the <br />application guidelines and preparation requirements of the product to be <br />applied. <br /> <br />2.
