2. Torque wrenches shall be used until, in the opinion of the ENGINEER, the <br />mechanics have become accustomed to the proper amount of pressure to <br />apply on standard wrenches. <br /> <br />F. Cutting of the ductile iron pipe for inserting valves and fittings, shall be done by <br />the CONTRACTOR in a neat and workmanlike manner without damage to the <br />pipe, the lining, or the coating. <br /> <br />1. Pipe 16 inches and larger in diameter shall be cut with a mechanical pipe <br />saw. <br /> <br />2. After cutting the pipe, the plain end shall be beveled with a heavy file or <br />grinder to remove sharp edges. <br /> <br />G. Areas of loose or damaged polyethylene lining associated with field cutting shall <br />be repaired as recommended by the pipe manufacturer. <br /> <br />1. Repair methods shall be as recommended by the manufacturer and shall be <br />submitted to the ENGINEER for review. <br />H. Work within the pipe shall be performed with care to prevent damage to the <br />lining. <br /> <br />1. Damaged lining shall be repaired or the pipe section replaced as required by <br />the ENGINEER. <br /> <br />2. No cable, lifting arms or other devices shall be inserted into the pipe. <br /> <br />3. Lifting, pulling or pushing mechanisms shall be applied to the exterior of the <br />pipe barrel. <br /> <br />I. Homing the pipe shall be accomplished by the use of a hydraulic or mechanical <br />pulling device, unless otherwise approved by the ENGINEER. <br /> <br />1. No pipe shall be driven or struck in order to seat it home. <br /> <br />J. Cleaning methods shall meet the ENGINEER's approval, and must be sufficient <br />to remove silt, rocks, or other debris, which may have entered the pipeline <br />during its installation. <br /> <br />K. Maximum tap size for corporation stops (Mueller thread) in ductile iron pipe shall <br />be 1½ -inches. <br /> <br />3.05 INSTALLATION OF POLYVINYLCHLORIDE (PVC) PIPE <br /> <br />A.
