1. The pipe Manufacturer shall provide visual guidelines for inspecting the butt, <br />saddle, and socket fusion joints. <br /> <br />G. Pressure testing shall be conducted in accordance with the Manufacturer’s <br />recommended procedure. <br /> <br />1. Pressure testing shall use water as the test media. <br /> <br />2. Pneumatic (air) testing is prohibited. <br /> <br />3.07 JOINTS <br /> <br />A. Flanged Joints <br /> <br />1. Shall be made up with full-face gaskets as specified in the piping <br />paragraphs. <br /> <br />2. Shall have the flange faces bearing uniformly on the gaskets. <br /> <br />3. Shall have the flanges drawn together uniformly until the joint is tight. <br /> <br />4. No washers shall be permitted for the bolt and nut assemblies. <br /> <br />5. The length of the bolts shall be uniform and in accordance with the <br />standards specified herein. <br /> <br />a. The maximum projection of the bolt beyond the end of the nut shall be <br />0.25 inch. The bolt shall not fall short of the end of the nut. <br /> <br />B. Threaded Joints <br /> <br />1. Threads shall be clean, machine cut and pipe shall be reamed before <br />erection. <br /> <br />2. Taps and dies shall be cleaned, sharpened and in good condition. <br /> <br />3. Threaded joints shall be made tight with Teflon tape. <br /> <br />4. After having been set up a joint shall not be backed off unless the joint is <br />broken. The threads shall be cleaned and new tape shall be applied. <br /> <br />C. Solvent Cemented Joints <br /> <br />1. Shall be made up in accordance with ASTM D2855 and the manufacturers' <br />recommendations. <br /> <br />2.
