Planting Soil Mixture B to be placed as backfill around the rootballs of palms: <br /> <br /> 30% Approved Topsoil <br /> 10% Approved Florida Peat <br /> 50% Approved Sand <br /> 10% Approved Compost <br /> <br />C. Test pH of topsoil and planting soil mixtures. If pH is not between specified limits add approved <br />soil conditioner/additive to bring pH within that range. <br /> <br /> <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br /> <br /> <br />3.01 INSPECTION: <br /> <br />A. Examine areas to receive soil preparation to assure work of other trades has been completed. <br /> <br />B. Verify that plants to remain undisturbed have been clearly identified and protected from injury <br />during construction. If not, identify and protect plants to remain according to procedures set <br />forth in Section 329300- Trees, Plants and Ground Cover. <br /> <br />C. Remove construction materials and debris from areas to be landscaped. <br /> <br />D. Do not proceed with soil preparation until unsatisfactory conditions are corrected. <br /> <br />3.02 PERFORMANCE: <br /> <br />A. Subsoil: Begin installation after preceding work is accepted. <br /> <br />B. Planting Soil Mix A: <br /> <br />1. Place planting soil mixes as accepted by the Architect. <br />2. Place Planting Soil Mix A to 3" depth throughout lawn areas and 12" in shrub beds and 6" in <br />ground cover beds and as backfill in broadleaf tree pits. <br />3. Remove rocks and other objects over 1" in diameter. <br />4. Smooth Planting Soil mixture to (2") two inches below top of surrounding paving, wherever <br />planting beds abut paved surfaces. <br />5. Smooth Planting Soil mixture to (2") two inches below finish grade in areas to be sodded. <br />6. Do not compact planting soil mixture, but do wet-soak planting areas to assure proper <br />settlement. Replace topsoil/planting soil mixture to specified grade after watering. <br />7. Apply pre-emergent weed control per manufacturers recommended rates of application to <br />sterilize the soil. Reapply as necessary to prevent germination of weak seed throughout the <br />project site. <br /> <br />C. Planting Soil Mix B: <br /> <br />1.
