<br />City of Sunny Isles Beach | Invitation to Bid No. 17‐05‐01 46 <br /> <br />responsible to harvest and submit appropriate frond, spear leaf or root tissue <br />samples from palms demonstrating unusual characteristics to an approved lab for <br />disease analysis report and forward results and recommendations to the City. <br />Palms that show signs of distress shall be immediately top drenched, if necessary. <br />Insect and disease activity will be treated on an as-needed basis upon inspection. <br />Required service calls and treatment between scheduled maintenance shall be at <br />Contractor’s expense. These reports are to be written and should be received by <br />the City no later than ten days after each inspection. It is required that the City <br />be notified in advance of planned activities in order to allow them to witness and <br />record the applications. <br /> <br />3.8.6 INSECT AND DISEASE ACTIVITY <br /> <br />The Contractor shall control or eradicate infestations by chewing or sucking <br />insects, leaf miners, fire ants, whitefly and other pests and disease by spraying <br />affected grasses or plants with chemical sprays and combinations of sprays <br />suitable for that particular pest when the infestation or infection becomes evident <br />and as often thereafter as necessary using Integrated Pest Management Principles. <br />The Contractor shall be fully licensed to spray pesticides, and shall use sound <br />cultural practices that aid in preventing the presence or proliferation of insects and <br />diseases. The Contractor shall develop a pest management plan for approval by <br />the City. The Contractor’s plan must establish the strategy and methods for <br />performing the work in a safe, effective, and environmentally sound manner. <br />Should the Contractor fail to report any disease or pest infestation that results in <br />damage to the Site(s) under the responsibility of the Contractor, the Contractor <br />must replace such damage, including, but not limited to, re-sodding, replacement <br />of trees, palms, shrubs, groundcover, etc. <br /> <br />Whitefly shall be controlled on all trees, palms, shrubs and groundcover and <br />Contractor shall develop preventive measures in the pest management plan. <br />Contractor is responsible to monitor infestations during the daily servicing and <br />inspection of the site(s). <br /> <br />3.8.7 SPECIALTY PALM/TREE CARE <br /> <br />Specialty palms such as Dates Palms, Royal Palms, Bismark Palms and other <br />specialty foliage shall be treated with preventive chemicals per each individual <br />need to properly maintain them. This includes pest infestation, fungicides and <br />deficiencies. Any specialty palm and other trees damaged due to over/under <br />treatment shall be the responsibility of the Contractor and all damaged material <br />shall be replaced within one (1) week of the damage being noticed, at the <br />Contractor’s expense, at no cost to the City.
