f. Never leave a tractor in a position where it can roll, where it is jacked up or with <br /> the starter key in the ignition. <br /> g. Dismount every hour for five to 10 minutes to avoid strain injuries. <br /> h. Keep the power take-off(PTO), PTO shaft and power input coupling guards in place <br /> to prevent clothing or body parts from becoming tangled in any moving parts. <br /> i. Make sure that the control lever is easily reachable while sitting to reduce the risk <br /> of a PTO injury. <br /> j. Do not turn sharply when operating power implements. This can cause the PTO <br /> guard cones to break and lower links or tractor tires can contact the power shaft. <br /> k. Fit attachments according to manufacturer's instructions only. <br /> I. Only attach implements to the draw bar or mounting points provided by the <br /> manufacturer. <br /> m. Check the safety pins on towed lift wing implements regularly for wear and tear. <br /> n. Ensure that all towed implements guards are in place before operating the tractor. <br /> o. Never adjust or perform work on implements when they are in motion. <br /> 7. Hedge Trimmers <br /> a. Inspect the equipment before use. Note that the safety guards are in working order <br /> and are not damaged. <br /> b. Check for loose screws or bolts. Replace any parts that are broken or damaged. <br /> Sharpen the blades, if needed. <br /> c. Clear the area of stones, debris, garbage and fellow employees. <br /> d. Pull back long hair and remove any hanging jewelry that could get caught in the <br /> equipment. <br /> e. Carry the tool to the desired location by the front handle with the cutting blades <br /> behind you. <br /> f. Do not remove any of the safety equipment on the tool while it is in use. <br /> g. Hold the tool with both hands, grasping the handles with your fingers tightly. <br /> h. Position your body away from the engine fumes to avoid inhalation. <br /> i. When using electric models, keep the cord away from the blades to avoid cutting it. <br /> 8. Leaf Blowers <br /> a. Plan work before operating a leaf blower. Do not operate machinery near others, <br /> as there is a thrown object hazard. <br /> b. Run the machine in an upright position. <br /> c.
