MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING <br /> BETWEEN <br /> CITY OF MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA <br /> AND <br /> • <br /> CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH <br /> TO PROVIDE FUNDING FOR THE <br /> HAULOVER PARK SKATEPARK <br /> THIS MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (this"MOU") is made this raj day of <br /> r)cceantlti 2017 by and between the CITY OF MIAMI BEACH,FLORIDA,a Florida municipal <br /> corporation(hereinafter referred to"Miami Beach"), and the CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, <br /> a Florida municipal corporation (hereinafter referred as to "Sunny Isles Beach"). Miami Beach <br /> and Sunny Isles Beach shall each hereinafter be referred to as a "Party" and collectively as the <br /> "Parties." <br /> RECITALS <br /> WHEREAS, it is a long-standing priority of Miami Beach to foster outdoor recreation for <br /> the community; and <br /> WHEREAS, Miami-Dade County ("County") and several neighboring municipalities, <br /> including Sunny Isles Beach, Town of Surfside, City of Miami Beach, Bal Harbour Village, and <br /> Town of Bay Harbor Islands (hereinafter, the neighboring municipalities shall be referred to <br /> collectively as the"Participating Municipalities"), have agreed tojointly develop a regional hybrid <br /> skatepark and pumptrack in Haulover Park, pursuant to the plans and at the location indicated in <br /> Attachment "A" (the "Skatepark"); and <br /> WHEREAS, Sunny Isles Beach received a proposal under the National Joint Powers <br /> Alliance from Velosolutions ("Contractor"), on behalf of American Ramp Company, to design, <br /> permit, and construct the Skatepark, with a total project cost of$267,375.00; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Skatepark is a logical initiative for Miami Beach due to limitations of <br /> space within Miami Beach to build a skatepark, and will expand recreational amenities, enhance <br /> mobility, build a sense of community, and further the efforts to cooperate on projects of mutual <br /> interest between the coastal communities in the region; and <br /> WHEREAS, the land, maintenance, and operational costs of the proposed Skatepark will <br /> be borne by the County, pursuant to a separate agreement with Sunny Isles Beach; and <br /> 1 <br /> SSB <br />
