RESOLUTION NO. 2017- 2154 <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE <br /> CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, CREATING A <br /> PUBLIC ARTS ADVISORY COMMITTEE (`PARC"); <br /> PROVIDING FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF COMMITTEE <br /> MEMBERS TO INCLUDE A CHAIRPERSON AND VICE <br /> CHAIRPERSON; PROVIDING FOR THE SELECTION OF <br /> COMMITTEE MEMBERS; PROVIDING FOR GUIDELINES <br /> FOR SELECTION OF WORKS OF ART; PROVIDING FOR <br /> ANNUAL REPORTING REQUIREMENTS; PROVIDING <br /> FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> WHEREAS, Section 74-8 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Sunny Isles Beach <br /> provides that there shall be as many standing committees of the City Commission as the Mayor <br /> or City Commission deems necessary and that the City Commission may establish or terminate <br /> such Committees from time to time; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to create a new advisory committee entitled <br /> the "Public Arts Advisory Committee" to advise the City Commission on matters of Public Art; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the Public Arts Advisory Committee ("PAAC") shall be responsible for <br /> advising the City Commission on matters including but not limited to the following: <br /> 1. Public Art Policy; <br /> 2. Selection of Locations for Public Arts Projects; <br /> 3. Providing Recommendations to the City Commission for Public and Private <br /> Art Projects; and <br /> 4. Tasks relating to the purpose of the Committee as determined by the City <br /> Commission or City Manager. <br /> WHEREAS, the Committee shall be composed of five (5) members who shall be <br /> appointed for two-year terms to commence January 1 and end December 31 of each year and <br /> which may be renewed by the City Commission as often as desirable; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Mayor shall appoint the Chairperson and the members of the City <br /> Commission shall appoint one member each and the Vice Chairperson shall be selected by <br /> majority vote of the members of the Committee; and <br /> WHEREAS, Committee members shall be governed by the Rules of Procedure that <br /> govern the City Commission, the Florida Sunshine and Public Records Laws, and the terms of <br /> this Resolution; and <br /> City's Advisory Committee Creation Appointments Revised Page 1 of 3 <br />
