FABIO DE OLIVEIRA
191 1 1 Collins Avenue — 308
Sunny Isles Beach, FL 33160
305.582.9922
December 5, 2017
Office of the City Clerk
18070 Collins Avenue, 4th Floor .
Sunny Isles Beach, Florida 33160 • •
Re: Public Arts Advisory Committee
Dear Mr. Betancur,
It has come to my attention that the City of Sunny Isles Beach is seeking candidates to
serve on its Public Arts Advisory Committee. I am interested in being part of that
committee and through this letter I hereby submit my application for your review and
consideration. Based on the qualifications published in the City's webpage, I am highly
qualified to serve on the committee.
•
I have been a resident of Sunny Isles Beach since 2000. I originally purchased a home in
Golden Gate Estates then moved to Ocean Two where I have resided since 2003. I am a
member of the Ocean Two Board of Directors as well as chairman of our condominium
association's CARE (Common Area Renovation and Enhancement) Committee. As
chairman of the CARE Committee, I am responsible for implementing, directing and
overseeing our building's current $3M common area improvements project.
I hold a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Louisiana State University and have over
30 years of professional experience in the fields of architecture and interior design. Prior
to settling in South Florida and establishing a design practice here, I was associated with
the Washington, DC office of the renowned architectural firm of Skidmore, Owings and
Merrill. Over the course of my professional career, I have had the opportunity to work on
a variety of large-scale, high-end projects from their initial design stage through
construction. In addition to designing buildings and interiors, I have participated in
projects involving historic preservation as well as urban planning projects. I have worked
alongside real estate developers, general contractors and other design professionals to
successfully coordinate and complete complex projects. This experience gives me the
background to assist the City Commission in recommending, initiating and implementing
its public art policies and projects and city beautification programs.
1
