November 25, 2017 To Whom it May Concern: As a current Sunny Isles Beach resident I am enthusiastically interested in becoming a member of the Public Arts Advisory Committee (PAAC). One of the reasons I moved to Sunny Isles Beach was the amount of care that the City Commission took in creating beautiful spaces for its residents and allowing for resident input in these decisions. Art is a love of mine as it led to a Bachelors degree with a major in Art History and.a minor in Art. I continue to create art personally as well as professional oversee the Fine Arts department at Cooper City High School, where I am an Assistant Principal. In this position I also oversee the activities, events and clubs of the entire school. I collaborate with our art teachers, art club and community members to beautify spaces on campus where students can find'solace-and peace through art. Currently we are in the process of creating a labyrinth with adjacent painted walls. We have two peace poles, a butterfly garden and a reading garden and will be creating a herb and vegetable garden in the future. I am very passionate about providing spaces for students to enjoy in°a meditative manner as well as collaborating with all stakeholders to make these ideas become realities. In addition to the creating of the spaces, I am skilled at organizing the dedication events of such spaces, in which the community comes together to appreciate the creation and honor the artists involved. Off campus, the AP art teacher and her students have an annual art show in Hollywood where students hang their art as well as hold a gala opening . which showcases community involvement. I am grateful to be able to bring my experiences and expertise to Sunny Isles Beach in order to exercise a continued collaboration between PAAC and the City Commission.
