Hugh Taylor Birch State Park - Proposed Dock and Seawall, Fort <br />Lauderdale 2016 <br />Humiston & Moore Engineers Mr. Matthew Fleming, P.E. 239-594-2021 <br />Nutting Engineers of Florida, Inc. (NE) was retained to <br />perform geotechnical exploration/engineering services for <br />the construction of a new sheet pile seawall structure <br />seaward of the existing seawall along the western side of <br />the park (Intracoastal Waterway). The new seawall <br />system was to be ~2,600 linear feet of steel sheet piles. <br />The sheet piles were proposed to be extended to depths of <br />twenty feet below elevation -1.35 NAVD 88 <br />(approximate low water level). Along with the new <br />seawall system a new dock construction was planned at <br />the southern end of the new seawall system. The dock <br />was designed to be supported using concrete precast <br />driven piles. <br />As part of the geotechnical exploration/ engineering <br />services NE performed ten standard penetration test <br />borings (SPTs) to a depth ranging from 20 foot to 40 foot <br />deep along the seawall and proposed dock area, as well as <br />laboratory testing (Sieve Analysis) in the area of the <br />proposed construction. <br />Nutting Engineers of Florida, Inc.
