BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE TO THIS CONTRACT (Include scope, size, and cost)Calvin, Giordano & Associates, Inc. was recently selected by the City of Fort Lauderdale to provide design development services, permitting, bid services, and construction management services for the George English Park project. The Park contains a basin connected to the Intracoastal Waterway, and the park contains two aging public boat ramps. The park falls immediately north of Sunrise Boulevard and the ramps were originally designed to serve smaller watercrafts based on the height restrictions of the Sunrise Boulevard Bridge. The ramps are constructed of articulated concrete tiles that continually dislodge and create pot holes, and the associated fixed docks are narrow and inundated at extreme tides. Due to their condition, ramp reconstruction is needed; and due to recent construction that replaced and elevated the Sunrise Boulevard Bridge the City anticipates not only increased use of the ramps but with larger vessels. CGA has provided a design plan to resolve ADA compliance issues, demolish and replace the ramps to accommodate larger vessels and provide floating docks on each side of the ramps that are longer than the previous fixed docks. An additional floating dock is also proposed to be added to an existing docking facility on the northern side of the basin to accommodate other park recreational activities. CGA is working in cooperation with the officials of the City in administering the design and construction of this project and is responsible for the preparation of all design and construction documents and all required permit processing. Design services began in September of 2016, with the completion of the project anticipated by September 2017. <br />25.
