This beach segment was the <br />highest eroding section in Collier County and beach fill alone was not sustainable. Project design considered 4-yr sand bypass from inlet <br />maintenance dredging. The project included an offshore sand search and the inclusion of an <br />innovative submerged berm segment to improve the longevity of the beach fill at the south end which has experienced chronic erosion. The park property had <br />been eroding since the mid 1990’s and an existing revetment was failing. The project included 7 breakwaters and 1 T-groin, revetment <br />redesign, seagrass mitigation, and local stakeholder coordination on dredging and beach restoration. Currently developing operations plan <br />with the County. <br /> <br />e. <br />(1) TITLE AND LOCATION (City and State) <br />Keewaydin Island Erosion Control Project <br />Naples, Florida <br />(2) YEAR COMPLETED <br />PROFESSIONAL SERVICES <br />2000-present <br />CONSTRUCTION (If Applicable) <br />2003 & 2012 <br /> <br />(3) BRIEF DESCRIPTION (Brief Scope, size, cost, etc.) AND SPECIFIC ROLE Check if project performed with current firm <br />Project Manager; for the design and permitting and construction management of a two-phased erosion control project downdrift of the <br />Gordon Pass Federal Navigation Channel at Gordon Pass. Phase One involved jetty tightening and construction of three T-groins (2003). <br />Phase Two consisted of two breakwaters with detached low profile groins. Project designed to work with 6-year interval of maintenance <br />dredging of Gordon Pass. The project is currently being monitored. <br /> <br />77
