As a project engineer and cost engineer, Mr. Schoonmaker has been directly <br />involved with onsite construction activities, and was chief estimator for a major maritime constructor for 10 years. <br />For the last 9 years, Mr. Schoonmaker has provided constructability assessments and costing used in the design engineering in dustry <br />and worked as an Owner’s Representative for the construction of cruise terminals and a multi-use bulk and container terminal. Mr. <br />Schoonmaker estimated projects for tender up to $150 million and concept pricing for projects up to $750 million. Projects have included <br />bulkheads, piers, offshore berths, marginal wharves, marine discharge and intake outfalls, bridges, mechanical dredging, and shoreline <br />protections. Proposal types included joint ventures, design-build, fixed price, FIDIC (International Federation of Consulting Engineers), <br />re-measurable, and negotiated bids. <br />19. Managed the marine resource and hydrographic surveys conducted, and the mooring field <br />layout was established based on minimum water depths required to protect water quality. Assisted with update to the Mooring <br />Field Management Plan. Includes waterway marker and boating restricted zone permitting with the USCG and FL Fish & <br />Wildlife Conservation Commission. This $50M project included the demolition of over 90,000 square feet of timber pile supported pier and the <br />installation of two pile-supported two approach piers and a pile supported apron around the existing Holland Tunnel Ventilation <br />Building.
