<br /> <br /> <br />City of Sunny Isles Beach | ITB 18-03-02 Parks and Recreational Facilities Landscape Maintenance Services 51 <br /> <br />be considered a “Supplemental Service.” <br /> <br />Date Palms (Phoenix dactylifera, Phoenix canariensis & Phoenix sylvestris): <br />Date Palm pest control contractor must be a State of Florida licensed pest control <br />operator with a minimum of five years of experience in this type of work with Date <br />Palms in South Florida. <br /> <br />Disease Control: Three times per year all Date Palms will be treated with a <br />systematic fungicide(s). These applications will be performed as <br />a root/soil drench during the months of March/April, <br />July/August, and November/December and are considered to be <br />preventive maintenance. Contractor is responsible to follow <br />manufacturer’s recommendations for rates and quantities. <br />Soil/root drench utilizing “T-Storm” or “Cleary’s 3336” fungicide <br />combined with either “Subdue Max” or “Chip -co-Aliette” and <br />“Mancocide”. For every other application alternate between <br />Subdue and Aliette. Take steps to ensure that the fungicide <br />doesn’t run off but is instead absorbed into the root system. <br /> <br /> In the event Thielaviopsis paradoxa is identified in any of the <br />palms and/or has infected a palm in close proximity to the <br />subject palms, commence top to bottom trunk drenches utilizing <br />T-Storm OR Cleary’s 3336. Perform these trunk drenches <br />concurrently to the root/soil drenches. Continue this <br />requirement until such time as infected host palms have been <br />removed from the proximity of the subject palms. Top to <br />bottom fungicide trunk drenches are on an “As Needed” basis <br />and will be considered a “Supplemental Service.” <br /> <br />Royal Palms: As a preventative measure, apply a Merit systemic insecticide root <br />drench on all Royal Palms with a follow-up within 21 days, twice per year. In <br />addition, apply a foliar application of Cygon, or approved equal, once per year. <br />Drench head of palm until runoff occurs and repeat foliar spray within 21 days. <br />Follow manufacturers’ recommendations regarding application methods and rates. <br />It is the responsibility of the Contractor to perform monthly evaluations of all Royal <br />Palms to keep them healthy. <br /> <br />3.7.8 LAWN (St. AUGUSTINE) <br /> <br />Insects and fungus shall be controlled by both curative and preventative measures. <br />Spray all lawn areas, as required, for control of chinch bugs, army worms, sod <br />webworm, fungus, and other pests. Unless specifically approved by the City, only <br />liquid pesticide applications are to be used for chinch bug control. <br /> <br />3.7.9 TREES, SHRUBS AND GROUND COVER <br />
