In addition to the soil <br />fertility tests, any sign of sickness or disease in trees, palms or shrubs shall be tested <br />immediately, at the Contractor’s cost. Contractor shall perform soil test, which results must be <br />submitted to the City, and will become property of the City thereaft er. <br /> <br />Contractor must notify the Project Manager(s) one (1) week in advance of fertilizing so that the <br />City’s Project Manager(s) can make any necessary changes to City operations or activities. <br /> <br />Contractor must maintain records of all fertilizer usage on a Contractor provided form. This form <br />must be filled out as fertilizing operations are performed, and all entries must be available for <br />inspection upon request from the City’s Project Manager(s). <br /> <br />Fertilizer must be delivered in the original, unopened cont ainers bearing the manufacturer’s <br />chemical analysis, name, trade name, trademark, and indication of conformance to state and <br />federal laws. In lieu of containers, fertilizer may be furnished in bulk if accompanied by a <br />certificate indicating the above information with each delivery. <br /> <br />Failure by the Contractor to provide adequate fertilizer and/or insecticide shall constitute a failure <br />to properly maintain landscaping. Resulting foliage or landscaping damage occasioned by such <br />failure, as determined by the City, shall be replaced immediately by the Contractor at no cost to <br />the City. Special attention shall be given to control chinch bug infestation in a timely manner <br />such that turf damage does not occur. Aerial spraying of trees, with the exception of Royal and <br />Date Palms, is prohibited (unless otherwise directed by the City). Any spraying on top of palms <br />must occur between the hours of 1:00 AM and 3:00 AM. Avoid spraying when residents are <br />active. <br /> <br />Fertilizer and insect/disease control materials shall be applied at the rates established by accepted <br />horticultural standards, manufacturer’s recommendations, by certified specialists, and as <br />approved by City. Contractor shall provide a list of suppliers for the fertilizer / insect control <br />materials including MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) for approval by the City. Review by the <br />City’s Project Manager(s) or Consultant shall not be deemed to be an approval that is contrary <br />to any other applicable law or regulation. The Contractor shall apply additional fertili zer or soil <br />amendments as needed to keep lawn and plants in a healthy, green, weed free and nutrient rich <br />condition, at no additional charge. The following fertilization schedule outlines a minimum of <br />applications. Changes in fertilization rates, methods and composition must be approved by the <br />City’s Project Manager(s) in writing. <br /> <br />3.8.1 LAWN (St. Augustine) <br /> <br />Apply four applications per year at quarterly intervals in February, May, August, <br />and November. Lawn fertilizer shall be in granular form and have a 3-1-2, 4-1-3 <br />(ie; 12-6-8 or 16-4-8) or similar ratio of N, P, and K with at least 50% of the <br />nitrogen in the insoluble or slow-release form. Fertilizer mix shall also contain iron <br />(at least 0.5%) and other micronutrients such as magnesium, manganese, and <br />zinc.
