City of Sunny Isles Beach
Attn: City Clerk
RFQ No. 18-08-01

The schematic conduit plan that we include will be in color to differentiate the various utilities.
It will be complemented with a separate detailed plan view of the bank of proposed conduits.
The set will also include the locations and details for the transformers, switch cabinets, vaults,
hand holes, pedestals, enclosures, and a trench detail that defies the depths and positions of all
the conduits. Therefore, potential conflicts with other above - or below-ground features will be
shown, and clear and detailed restoration plans will be included so that there will be fewer
unknowns resulting in better, tighter bids and fewer change orders.

Our plans will preserve the existing beauty of Sunny Isles Beach. Our attention to detail will
include a thorough field review so that we can guide the utility companies in making
aesthetically smart decisions in the placement of above-ground elements that also meet the
utility needs. We will include adequate detail and instructions so that we do not kill or damage
existing trees or large hedges while installing the conduits so that the residential privacy and
beauty is retained while we further improve the view. This will be accomplished by drilling
conduits that run perpendicular to the center line and under the existing hedges, walls, trees,
etc.

Our team has proven previous success in citywide undergrounding projects. Erdman Anthony
has teamed with Mead & Hunt, which has extensive experience in citywide undergrounding
projects in tourist locations. They have extensive experience performing utility conversions,
relocations and coordination, especially for coastal and tourist areas in the Southeast, and that
expertise will be useful to better understand the work involved, to coordinate efforts among
the client, utility providers and stakeholders, and in keeping projects on track and moving
forward. As a civil engineering firm, their expertise fits perfectly with our approach to have the
City of Sunny Isles Beach conduit plans designed and prepared by a civil engineer, bringing a
civil engineer’s attention to detail, focus on underground conflicts, and knowledge of roadways,
trenching, traffic control, pavement restoration, landscape restoration, etc.

Our company is the right size for this project. Erdman Anthony is over 60 years old, with a staff
of nearly 250. To that, we add the strength and expertise of our subconsultant firms, with the
primary effort from Mead & Hunt, a firm that is 100 years old, with a staff of over 500 that will
prepare the construction plans. Our firms are medium -sized, so we are large enough to have
the resources that will enable us to use state-of-the-art tools and techniques to make the
project move smoothly and efficiently. Yet we are not so large that we lose sight of the local
personal connections.

For this project, I, Dana Gillette, will be the City’s authorized official point of contact and will be
negotiating on behalf of my firm Erdman Anthony. I am a native of West Palm Beach, and my
family has worked on the island for over 30 years, having designed a number of parks,
roadways, utilities, pump stations, drainage projects, etc., so I understand the unique nature of
