recommendations pertaining to subsoils that required removal (if any), excavations, conceptual
dewatering, pipe bedding, backfill materials and compaction requirements. Recommendations for
pavement reconstruction of the roadways were also furnished.

State Road (SR) A1A Water Main Improvements
Pompano Beach, FL
Completion Date: 2015

The City of Pompano Beach wished to replace an existing water
main along SR A1A, between Dow Street and Bay Drive. At the time
of Terracon’s services, plans included replacing the existing water
main with a new 6-inch diameter PVC C900 water main. Terracon)
provided a geotechnical study and geotechnical engineering
recommendations for the project. The firm’s field
testing/exploration program included obtaining underground utility
clearance and ROW permits, drilling SPT borings, core samples, and
maintenance of traffic (MOT) plan. The recovered asphalt cores
were measured for thickness, and the base and subgrade materials
were visually examined in Terracon’s laboratory to determine their
engineering classification. The firm also provided recommendations pertaining to subsoils that require
removal (if any), excavations, dewatering, pipe bedding, backfill materials, and compaction
requirements.

SR-A1A Subsurface Utility Conversion
Pompano Beach, FL
Completion Date: 2018

The City of Pompano Beach is in the process of a major infrastructure improvement project to improve
electric and communication utilities in the area of A1A from Terra Mar Drive to SE 2nd Street and from
Nestor Street to the Hillsboro Inlet Bridge. This project involves hardening the overhead electrical lines
along this corridor, which will lessen the risk of power outages during storms, while improving the
aesthetics of the neighborhood. This project was completed in phases and is a partnership between the
City, FPL, AT&T and Comcast.

KEITH was responsible for Subsurface Utility Engineering and Surveying & Mapping, providing utility
verification to assist the design engineer with precise locations of existing utilities. This effort allowed
the design team to minimize potential conflicts for the proposed undergrounding of existing overhead
facilities. KEITH also provided sketch and descriptions to dedicate areas for adjusted and/or newly
installed appurtenances.

CRA District Projects
City of Margate, FL
Completion Date: Ongoing
