City of Sunny Isles Beach RFQ No. 18-08-01 | Consulting Engineering Services for Golden Shores Utility Undergrounding and Roadway Improvements (CCNA)
PUBLIC OUTREACHAlthough the City has stated they will do most of the public outreach on this project, CGA can provide critical support in the way of community outreach, preparation of graphics, meeting attendance, and project updates. Most of our practice has been in the public sector, and therefore coupled with the necessary abilities to inform and engage the residents and stakeholders through various public involvement mechanisms. Having the majority of the team of professionals as a unified team under a single roof, CGA is not only able to develop, communicate and solicit discussions about a larger vision affecting the project, but we are cognizant of the processes and means to communicate that vision and need to the public. These are essential and integral aspects of public participation processes. CGA has experience working with the residents and local agency to move utility services from the alley or backs of houses to the street front which takes a special and focused public outreach program. The CGA team is prepared to assist the City with this as much or as little is requested of us.
GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERINGNUTTING ENGINEERS OF FLORIDA, INC. USUPAE has been a firm believer in the use of air/vacuum excavation for a number of reasons. Most importantly, because air is a compressible gas, when used to breakup soil to discover a buried utility it flows around the conduit, pipe or cable when in direct contact versus cutting into it. Air excavation is also considered environmentally friendly in that it doesn’t create runoff that may spoil storm water and require expensive measures to filter the runoff. Safer to the operator and the crew and with a never ending source, air is always the first choice for vacuum excavating by USUPAE crews.
USUPAE provides a complete service when providing potholing services. From start to finish, these services may include: USA Digalert mark-out, arranging for any necessary “standby” personnel (HP Gas, fiberoptic, electric, etc.), arranging for private professional mark-outs, obtaining approved traffic control plans, obtaining necessary encroachment/traffic control permits, vacuum excavation of the target utilities, full depth and size measurements as requested by the client, complete photo essay of each pothole location, back-fill, compaction and site patching as required. Once completed, all pothole sites are clearly marked via survey nail, feather or lathe stake. Most importantly, USUPAE prepares a “Subsurface Utility Report “with their proprietary software that includes all the data necessary for design engineers to locate horizontally and vertically any potential conflict when designing a new pipeline, road widening or other major project.
USUPAE, is headquartered in Oakland Park, FL, services the entire South Florida region including St Lucie, Martin, Monroe, Collier, Hendry, Glades, Highlands Okeechobee, Lee, Charlotte, Desota, Hardee, Manatee, Sarasota, Polk, and Hillsborough Counties. Depending on job size, one or two rigs and their two-man crews may be assigned to a project. USUPAE currently operates two (2) VacMaster 4000 excavation rigs, which are specifically designed for air/vacuum potholing.
From the initial request for pricing and crew availability, USUPAE responds via the main office with a price quote based on total job hours estimated, traffic control set-up costs and “Subsurface Utility Report”. Most projects can expect a crew to respond within one to three days depending on the number of sites, USA Digalert markout and current USUPAE workload. USUPAE also has a 24hr contact line for immediate emergency response if needed.
32
