<br />City of Sunny Isles Beach |Request for Qualifications No. 18-11-01 9 <br /> <br /> <br />Section 2 <br />Special Terms and Conditions <br /> <br />2.1 PURPOSE OF REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS: <br /> <br />The City of Sunny Isles Beach (the “City”) is seeking a licensed professional engineering consultant <br />firm (the “Firm” or “Consultant”) experienced in the engineering and design of drainage pump <br />stations and supporting infrastructure. The City owns and operates the drainage pump station <br />situated underneath the east side ramps for the Lehman Causeway immediately east of the <br />Intracoastal Waterway. The pump station and associated improvements were constructed by <br />Miami-Dade County and turned over to the City of Sunny Isles Beach at the time of its incorporation <br />in 1997. The City has owned and operated the station, including the current pumps, generator, <br />day tank and associated equipment for the past 21 years. Through the City's on-going Stormwater <br />management system preventative maintenance program, necessary system repairs have been <br />identified. The proposed project within the Golden Shores community will include an evaluation <br />and rebuilding of the pump station. Since then the City performed one major overhaul that was <br />completed in 2003. This project is planned to rebuild the entire pump station to ensure its continued <br />use. <br /> <br />2.2 PRE-PROPOSAL CONFERENCE <br /> <br />A Non-Mandatory meeting is scheduled for Thursday, November 15, 2018 at 1:30 PM, <br />First Floor Conference Room at the City of Sunny Isles Beach, Government Center located at 18070 <br />Collins Avenue, Sunny Isles Beach, Florida 33160. No claim of ignorance by the Consultant of the <br />conditions that exist, or that may hereinafter exist as a result of failure to make the necessary <br />examinations or investigations or failure to fulfill in every detail the requirements of the contract <br />documents, will be accepted as basis for varying the requirements of the City of Sunny Isles Beach. <br />Oral statements may not be relied upon and will not be binding or legally effective. As such an <br />addendum will be issued if any alterations are made to the specifications contained herein. <br /> <br />2.3 TERM OF CONTRACT <br /> <br />This contract will commence upon execution by both parties which shall be the effective date <br />succeeding approval of the contract by the City Commission, or City Manager, unless otherwise <br />stipulated in the Notice of Award letter. Prior to initiating the performance of any services under <br />this Agreement, Consultant must receive a written Notice to Proceed from the City Manager prior <br />to beginning the performance of services. The contract shall be contingent upon the completion <br />and submittal of all required documents. This contract shall remain in effect until the completion <br />of services, provided that the services rendered by Firm during the contract period are satisfactory <br />and that City funding is available as appropriated on an annual basis. However, in the event funding <br />is not appropriated on an annual basis during any particular year within the contract period, the <br />contract may be canceled upon thirty (30) days written notice to Firm. In such an event, the City <br />shall only be responsible for the reasonable value of services performed prior to the effective date <br />of termination. <br />
