RESOLUTION NO. 2018 - 2�&� <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF <br /> SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, RANKING THE <br /> SUBMITTALS FOR CONSULTING ENGINEERING SERVICES <br /> FOR GOLDEN SHORES UTILITY UNDERGROUNDING AND <br /> ROADWAY IMPROVEMENTS IN RESPONSE TO REQUEST <br /> FOR QUALIFICATIONS ("RFQ") NO. 18-08-01 AND <br /> AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO BEGIN <br /> NEGOTIATIONS WITH THE TOP RANKED FIRM IN <br /> ACCORDANCE WITH STATE LAW; AUTHORIZING THE CITY <br /> MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE AND ENTER INTO AN <br /> AGREEMENT WITH THE TOP RANKED FIRM, PROVIDED <br /> SAID AGREEMENT IS FIRST APPROVED AS TO FORM AND <br /> LEGAL SUFFICIENCY BY THE CITY ATTORNEY; <br /> AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND THE CITY <br /> ATTORNEY TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO <br /> EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN <br /> EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> WHEREAS, the City is desirous of securing a firm to provide consulting engineering <br /> services to the City for the Golden Shores Utility Undergrounding and Roadway Improvements <br /> project; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City issued and advertised RFQ No. 18-08-01 for Consulting <br /> Engineering Services for Golden Shores Utility Undergrounding and Roadway Improvements, <br /> for which five (5) responses were received; and <br /> WHEREAS, after due consideration and evaluation, the City Manager recommends to <br /> the City Commission the ranked firms to provide consulting engineering services to the City as <br /> follows: <br /> 1) Craven Thompson & Associates, Inc.; <br /> 2) Calvin, Giordano & Associates, Inc.; <br /> 3) Erdman Anthony of Florida, Inc.; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to accept the recommendation of the City <br /> Manager and to authorize the City Manager or his designee to negotiate an agreement with the <br /> top ranked firm of Craven Thompson & Associates, Inc., and then with the next ranked firms, <br /> should negotiations with Craven Thompson & Associates, Inc. be unsuccessful; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City is authorized to begin negotiating with the first ranked firm of <br /> Craven Thompson & Associates, Inc. to provide consulting engineering services to the City, and <br /> if the City and Craven Thompson & Associates, Inc. cannot reach an agreement on a contract, the <br /> City reserves the right to terminate negotiations with Craven Thompson & Associates, Inc. and <br /> begin negotiating with the second ranked firm of Calvin, Giordano & Associates, Inc., until a <br /> contract acceptable to the City has been executed.
