HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2013-2065 RESOLUTION NO. 2013- 20(05 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, SUPPORTING THE CITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION TO PURSUE SOCIAL MEDIA; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND CITY ATTORNEY TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach has always had a strong desire to maintain an open and direct line of communication with its residents; and WHEREAS, the City wishes to provide its residents with greater access to real-time information, such as, special city events, traffic, public safety and weather conditions; and WHEREAS, within the last five (5) years social media has become an effective tool to provide information to the public in real-time; and WHEREAS, numerous governmental agencies throughout the Nation are now using Social Media tools, such as, Twitter and Facebook, to disseminate important information to the public. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Supporting the Recommendation of the City Advisory Committee to Pursue Social Media Initiatives. The City Commission hereby supports the City Advisory Committee's recommendation to pursue social media initiatives. Section 2. Authorization of City Manager and City Attorney. The City Manager and City Attorney are hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. Section 3. Effective Date.
