A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING RESOLUTION
NO. 2011-1806 RELATING TO LIBRARY INTERLOCAL LEASE
AGREEMENT TO APPROVE INCREASE COSTS FOR
EXTENDED LIBRARY HOURS FROM $13,330.24 TO $15,347.01
AS SET FORTH IN EXHIBIT "A", AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO
EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach and Miami-Dade County entered into an
Amended Library Interlocal Lease Agreement on or about November 1, 2002 for the operation of
a Library by the County in Sunny Isles Beach; and
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach and Miami-Dade County desire to increase
the operating hours of the Sunny Isles Beach branch library to be opened on Fridays from 2:00
p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in order to accommodate its residents; and
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach shall pay all costs associated with the
increase in operating hours of the Library including additional salary costs, and any and all
COLA and merit salary increases totaling approximately Fifteen Thousand Three Hundred Forty
Seven Dollars and One Cent ($15,347.01) as described in the attached Exhibit"A"; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Amending Resolution No. 2011-1806. The City Commission hereby approves the
amendment to Resolution No. 2011-1806 to reflect increased costs for extended Library hours
from $13,330.24 to $15,347.01 as set forth in Exhibit"A".
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.

RE: INCREASE COSTS FOR EXTENDED LIBRARY HOURS
RECOMMENDATION
This Resolution is presented for your consideration.
REASONS
Fiscal year 2012-2013, the City of Sunny Isles Beach (City) supplemented four (4) public service
hours from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. for Friday's schedule at the Sunny Isles Beach Branch Library.
The annual cost to the City for this service was $13,330.24. These extra hours were beneficial
for our residents and visitors.
The City was recently informed that the new annual cost for fiscal year 2013-2014 will be in the
amount of$15,347.01. The City will continue to supplement the four (4) public service hours on
Fridays at the revised cost. This amount includes additional salary costs, COLAs, and merit
salary increases for three (3) library assistants: one (1) - Library Assistant 3 and two (2) -
Library Assistant 1. This increase represents a $2,016.77 cost difference.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Article III of the Second Amendment of the Interlocal Library Lease Agreement (Resolution
2011-1806), supports the aforementioned increases, "The CITY shall pay all costs associated
with the increase in operating hours of the Sunny Isles Beach Branch Library.. Specifically, THE •
CITY shall pay the additional salary costs, including any and all COLA and merit salary
increases."
FUNDING SOURCE:
The cost for the library service is funded thru the General Ledger Account 10-572-5311 (Other
Contractual Services in the Cultural & Community Services Department). Staff budgeted
fourteen thousand dollars ($14,000) for these services for fiscal year 2013-2014. Staff is
respectfully requesting that this line item be increased to $15,500.
