A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE
PURCHASE OF ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT FROM DELL
NEEDED FOR FISCAL YEAR 2012-2013, IN AN AMOUNT
NOT TO EXCEED THIRTY-FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS
(S34,000.00); AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO
ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS
RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City purchases computer systems and servers from DELL utilizing
Florida State Contract No. 250-000-09-1; and
WHEREAS, during Fiscal Year 2012-2013 four purchases have been approved, one for
$8,256.69, a second purchase approved by the City Commission on December 20, 2012 via
Resolution No. 2012-2004 in an amount of$43,452.20, a third purchase approved on February
21, 2013 via Resolution No. 2013-2023 in an amount of $13,291.11, and a fourth purchase
approved on April 18th, 2013 via Resolution No. 2013-2050 in an amount of$103,000.00 for a
total of$168,000.00; and
WHEREAS, the City is now requesting purchase authority of an additional $34,000.00 in
order to purchase servers, maintenance, and desktop PC replacements from DELL, bringing the
total amount not to exceed to $202,000.00; and
WHEREAS, funding for additional equipment is available in Account No. 10.559-5643.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Authorize the Purchase. The City Commission hereby authorizes the purchase of
additional equipment from DELL, in an amount not to exceed Thirty-Four Thousand Dollars
($34,000.00), bringing the total amount not to exceed to Two Hundred and Two Thousand
Dollars ($202,000.00).
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution will become effective upon adoption.

RE: Approval for DELL Total Purchase Authority not to exceed
$202,000.00 for FY 2012-2013
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Commission approve the attached resolution
granting purchase authority, in an amount not to exceed $202,000 for FY 2012-
2013.
REASONS:
The City Commission has previously approved a total purchase authority of
$168,000 from DELL for fiscal year 2012-2013. Staff is requesting an additional
$34,000 in order to make additional purchases from DELL for critical security
equipment (firewalls) and additional storage for critical disaster recovery
purposes.
The City purchases computer systems and servers from DELL utilizing Florida
State Contract #250-000-09-1 and/or #250-WSCA-10ACS. For this fiscal year,
four purchases have been approved, one for $8256.69, a second purchase
approved by City Commission Resolution No. 2012-2004 in an amount of
$43,452.20, a third purchase approved on February 21, 2013 by City
Commission Resolution No. 2013-2023in an amount of $13,291.11, and a fourth
purchase approved on April 18, 2013 by City Commission Resolution No. 2013-
2050 in an amount of $103,000.00, bringing the total purchase authority for the
fiscal year to $168,000.00. Actual total purchases for the fiscal year-to-date as of
August 23 are $162,352.87.

Two additional proposed purchases for this fiscal year are attached. Two new
security devices to replace outdated infrastructure in an amount of $12,650.03,
and a new storage unit to be utilized for backups and to alleviate storage needs,
in an amount of$25,981.16.

Funding is available in Account No. 10.559-5643.
