A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE
CONTRIBUTION OF UP TO TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS
($10,000.00) TO SPONSOR THE ELEVENTH ANNIVERSARY
DRAGON BOAT RACE ON OCTOBER 5, 2013 AT
HAULOVER PARK; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS
RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach has a tradition of participating and assisting
in various programs of interest and benefit to its residents and visitors; and
WHEREAS, the United Chinese Association of Florida are hosting the 11th Anniversary
Dragon Boat Race at Haulover Park; and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to strengthen the relationship with their Sister City,
Hengchun, Taiwan, and bring awareness of the Chinese culture to our residents and visitors; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to sponsor the event on Saturday, October 5,
2013 at Haulover Park, by contributing up to Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval of Contribution. The City Commission hereby approves a contribution
of up to Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) to sponsor the 11th Anniversary Dragon Boat Race
on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Haulover Park.
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 19th day of September 2013.

RE: Sponsor Dragon Boat Festival 2013
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Commission approve the attached resolution to
donate Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) to sponsor the 11th Annual Dragon
Boat Race at Haulover Park at the Platinum level.
REASONS:
The United Chinese Association of Florida is hosting the 11th Annual Dragon •
Boat Festival at Haulover Park on Saturday, October 5, 2013. Sunny Isles Beach
recently joined in a Sister City relationship with Hengchun, Taiwan. This event
will further strengthen the relationship with Hengchun and bring awareness of the
Chinese culture to our residents and visitors.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding is available in the City Commission's donation account number 10-511-
5490.
