A 501(C)(3) CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION; PROVIDING THE CITY MANAGER WITH THE AUTHORITY TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach has a tradition of participating and assisting various social services programs of interest to the residents and guests of Sunny Isles Beach; and WHEREAS, the Sunny Isles Beach Social Seniors Events, Inc. ("Social Seniors") is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that offers monthly social and recreational gatherings for senior citizen residents and guests alike; and WHEREAS,the City is committed to serving the community as a whole, regardless of one's age, race, religion or ethnicity; and WHEREAS, Social Seniors provides social and recreational activities as well as informational seminars on medical, financial and other matters of importance to the community; and WHEREAS, the City wishes to continue its tradition of giving contributions to charitable organizations within the City, and wishes to give a charitable contribution to Social Seniors, in an amount of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) subject to certain conditions. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Authorization of Donation. The City Commission hereby authorizes a•charitable contribution for 2013-2014 Fiscal Year to Social Seniors in the amount of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00) as a matching contribution, plus any remaining funds (after deduction of expenses) in the City account for Fiscal Year 2012-2013, subject to the following terms and conditions: 1. The City shall donate $10,000.00 charitable contribution to Social Seniors as a match to the first $10,000.00 raised by Social Seniors from its gross revenues which includes but is not limited to sponsorships, donations, memberships fees, and fees for events and programming; 2. The City shall provide Social Seniors with any remaining funds collected by Social Seniors during the Fiscal Year 2012-2013 provided that expenses incurred by the City for assisting the incorporation of Social Seniors as a non-profit are deducted from such funds; 3. The $10,000.00 charitable contribution shall be contributed quarterly, i.e. $2,500.00 per quarter; Approving Charitable Contribution to Social Seniors 4. The City reserves the right to audit the quarterly payment made to Social Seniors to ensure that the charitable contribution is used in accordance with the matching requirement set forth in this Resolution; 5. Social Seniors may report quarterly expenditures and revenues using the spreadsheet attached hereto as Exhibit"A"; 6. In addition to the charitable contribution, the City will continue to provide in-kind services to Social Seniors provided that reasonable notice is provided for use of any facility owned by the City. The City may make available the visitor center for Social Seniors to sell tickets to events and programming; 7. The City at its discretion agrees to market events and programming sponsored by Social Seniors in its publications and other communications mediums; 8. Social Seniors agree to promote City events and programs at all Social Seniors organized functions as approved by the City; 9. Social Seniors agree to provide residents of the City with some form of special pricing, or discounts for events as consideration for the charitable contribution; 10. Social Seniors agree to provide detailed information of all Social Seniors events and programs to the City so as to assist in marketing Social Seniors events, however all ticket/payment requests will be directed to Social Seniors Officers; 11. Social Seniors agree to name the City of Sunny Isles Beach as a sponsor in all Social Seniors materials provided that such materials are reviewed and approved by the City. Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate the terms of this Resolution. Section 3. Effective Date.
