A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA,
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXPEND BUDGETED
FUNDS IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED THIRTY -FOUR
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($34,000.00) TO SOFTWARE HOUSE
INTERNATIONAL (SHI), THE CONTRACTING MICROSOFT
AFFILIATE FOR THE PURPOSE OF OBTAINING MICROSOFT
SOFTWARE PRODUCTS FOR FISCAL YEAR 2013/2014 BY
UTILIZING STATE OF FLORIDA CONTRACT NO. 252 - 001 -09 -1 AND
NO. 252 - 030 -09 -ACS; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE
THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City is in need of updating its current Microsoft Licensing due to
changes in its computing environment, as well as the need to upgrade to current software
products; and
WHEREAS, staff determined that Software House International (SHI), the contracting
Microsoft affiliate provides the needed licenses and services; and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to authorize the City Manager to purchase software licenses
from Software House International (SHI), the contracting Microsoft affiliate, in an amount not to
exceed Thirty -Four Thousand Dollars ($34,000.00), by utilizing the same terms and conditions as
the State of Florida Contract No. 252- 001 -09 -1 and No. 252- 030 -09 -ACS.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to expend
an amount not to exceed Thirty -Four Thousand Dollars ($34,000.00), to purchase software
licenses for Fiscal Year 2013/2014 from Software House International (SHI), the contracting
Microsoft affiliate, by utilizing the same terms and conditions as the State of Florida Contract
No. 252- 001 -09 -1 and No. 252- 030 -09 -ACS.
Section 2. Further Authorization of City Manager. Further, the City Manager is hereby
authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3. Effective Date. The Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption

RE: Approval for SHI Purchase Authority not to Exceed $34,000.00 for
FY 2013-2014
• RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution
authorizing the City Manager to expend budgeted funds, in an amount not to
exceed $34,000.00, on purchases of software licensing and/or products from
Software House International (SHI).
REASONS:
The City purchases computer system software from SHI utilizing Florida State
Contract #252-001-09-1, and/or #252-030-09-ACS. Staff is requesting purchase
authority of budgeted funds for fiscal year 2013-2014 in order to purchase
Microsoft and Adobe software licenses needed by various City Departments.
The City is in need of purchasing software licensing from Microsoft, under State
of Florida contract #252-001-09-1, Adobe, under State of Florida contract #252-
030-09-ACS, and other software which may be needed for City business.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding was budgeted and is available under the Information Technology
Budget, 10-559-5643A and 10-559-5511.
