A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING
THE NAMING OF A PARK BENCH IN HERITAGE PARK
THE "ROBERT J. LILIENFELD PARK BENCH" IN
HONOR AND APPRECIATION OF HIS DEDICATION TO
THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH AS A FOUNDING
FATHER AND CHAIRPERSON OF THE INITIAL
CHARTER REVISION COMMISSION; DIRECTING THE
CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE TO PLACE
SIGNAGE COMMENSURATE WITH THIS DISTINCTION
ON SAID PARK BENCH; AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO
EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Robert J. Lilienfeld had been an active and outstanding member of the City
of Sunny Isles Beach community; and
WHEREAS, historically through his relentless efforts Mr. Lilienfeld was one of the
incorporators of the City who assisted in the incorporation of Sunny Isles Beach, a Founding
Father and Chairperson of the initial Charter Revision Commission when the City was first
formed in 1997, and who donated his time and expertise on many City projects and functions for
the betterment of Sunny Isles Beach and its citizens; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission would like to honor Mr. Lilienfeld for his dedication
to the City by naming a park bench in Heritage Park as "Robert J. Lilienfeld Park Bench ".
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Naming of Park Bench. The City Commission hereby names a park bench in
Heritage Park as the "Robert J. Lilienfeld Park Bench" in honor and appreciation of Robert
Lilienfeld's dedication as a Founding Father of the City of Sunny Isles Beach.
Section 2. Directive to City Manager. The City Commission hereby directs the City
Manager or his designee to place signage commensurate with this distinction on said park bench.
Section 3. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.

Section 4. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.

Naming a Park Bench in Honor of Robert J. Lilienfeld
RECOMMENDATION:
® The Resolution is attached for your consideration.
REASONS:
Robert J. Lilienfeld was one of the incorporators of the City of Sunny Isles Beach
and a Founding Father and Chairperson of the initial Charter Revision
Commission when the City was first formed in 1997. He donated his time and
expertise on many City projects and functions for the betterment of Sunny Isles
Beach and its citizens.
Recently Robert Lilienfeld passed away, and this City would like to name a park
bench in Heritage Park as "Robert J. Lilienfeld Park Bench" in honor and
appreciation of his dedication as a Founding Father of the City of Sunny Isles
Beach.
