RE: Proclaim March as "Bike 305 Month"
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Commission approve the attached resolution to
proclaim the month of March as "Bike 305 Month ".
REASONS:
Miami -Dade County, in an effort to encourage a healthy lifestyle and promote an
alternative to vehicular transportation, developed the Bike 305 program. This
program is a cooperative effort of all municipalities within Miami -Dade County to
connect bike paths where available and to share events and program
opportunities to all of our neighbors countywide.
The City is supportive of this initiative and is working to expand our interior bike
path throughout the rest of the City to create a safer biking option for our
residents and visitors. In the interim, the City will partner with the County and the
Bike 305 initiative to host and promote bike safety events through the Bike 305
website and mobile application.
