A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, RATIFYING A CHARITABLE
CONTRIBUTION IN REMEMBRANCE OF DAN PALMER TO
THE AVENTURA MARKETING COUNCIL EDUCATION
FOUNDATION, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED ONE
HUNDRED DOLLARS (5100.00); APPROVING THE NAMING OF
A PARK BENCH IN HERITAGE PARK AS THE "DAN PALMER
PARK BENCH" IN HONOR AND APPRECIATION OF HIS
DEDICATION TO THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH;
DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE TO
PLACE SIGNAGE COMMENSURATE WITH THIS
DISTINCTION ON SAID PARK BENCH; AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO
EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach Municipal Charter Section 7.6 requires the
affirmative votes of four (4) members of the City Commission to approve any charitable
contribution; and
WHEREAS, Dan Palmer, who has been a friend to the City of Sunny Isles Beach since
its' incorporation in 1997 through the Sunny Isles Beach/Community Newspaper, has passed
away peacefully; and
WHEREAS, Dan Palmer will always be remembered for his humorous "Wanderings and
Ponderings" column in the Community Newspapers; and
WHEREAS, in Dan's memory, the City wishes to donate One Hundred Dollars
($100.00) to the Aventura Marketing Council Education Foundation which supports one of
Dan's favorite events, the "Young Stars Showcase "; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission would like to honor Dan for his dedication to the City
by naming a park bench in Heritage Park as the "Dan Palmer Park Bench ".
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Ratifying the Donation. The City Commission hereby ratifies the charitable
contribution in remembrance of Dan Palmer to the Aventura Marketing Council Education
Foundation, in an amount not to exceed One Hundred Dollars ($100.00).
Section 2. Naming of Park Bench. The City Commission hereby names a park bench in
Heritage Park as the "Dan Palmer Park Bench" in honor and appreciation of Dan Palmer's
dedication to the City of Sunny Isles Beach.

Section 3. Directive to City Manager. The City Commission hereby directs the City
Manager or his designee to place signage commensurate with this distinction on said park bench.
Section 4. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 5. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.

Contribution and Naming a Park Bench in Honor of Dan Palmer
RECOMMENDATION:
This Resolution is attached for your consideration.
REASONS:
Dan Palmer, who has been a friend to the City of Sunny Isles Beach since its'
incorporation in 1997 through the Sunny Isles Beach /Community Newspaper,
has passed away peacefully. He will always be remembered for his humorous
"Wanderings and Ponderings" column in the Community Newspapers. In Dan's
memory, the City donated $100.00 to the Aventura Marketing Council Education
Foundation which supports one of Dan's favorite events, the "Young Stars
Showcase ".
The City would also like to name a park bench in Heritage Park as the "Dan
Palmer Park Bench" in honor and appreciation of his dedication to the City of
Sunny Isles Beach.
