HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2019-2962 RESOLUTION NO. 2019- 29 'Z A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, ESTABLISHING THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH PROPOSED AD VALOREM TAX MILLAGE LEVY RATE AT 2.200 MILLS PER ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($1,000.00) OF TAXABLE ASSESSED VALUE WHICH IS 2.20% LESS THAN THE "ROLLED BACK" RATE OF 2.2495 MILLS,FOR FISCAL YEAR 2019/2020; SETTING THE DATE, • TIME AND PLACE FOR THE FIRST AND SECOND PUBLIC BUDGET HEARINGS AS REQUIRED BY LAW; DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK AND CITY MANAGER TO FILE THIS RESOLUTION WITH THE PROPERTY APPRAISER OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY PURSUANT TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF FLORIDA STATUTES AND THE RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF REVENUE OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS,the Property Appraiser of Miami-Dade County,Florida,served upon the City of Sunny Isles Beach a"Certification of 2019 Taxable Value"; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 200.065, F.S., the City of Sunny Isles Beach will furnish the County Property Appraiser the proposed ad valorem tax millage rate,and the date,time and place at which public hearings will be held to consider the proposed millage rate and tentative budget for Fiscal Year 2019/2020; and WHEREAS,the Commission agrees to establish the proposed ad valorem tax millage levy rate at 2.200 mills per One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) of taxable assessed value. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Establish the Proposed Millage Rate. The proposed ad valorem tax millage rate is hereby established as 2.200 mills per One Thousand Dollars($1,000.00)of assessed property value in the City of Sunny Isles Beach. The proposed millage reflected is 2.20% less than the "rolled back" rate of 2.2495 mills, for Fiscal Year 2019/2020. Section 2. Setting the Public Hearings. REASONS: Budget Amendment BA1819-02 is necessary to record the following budget transactions: 1) Transfer funding for COLA increases from HR to affected departments; 2) Correct PD amounts and a purchase order carryover amount; 3) Record revenue/expenditure budget for tree planting grant received from MDC; 4) Transfer funding in Legal from personnel to operating and appropriate additional funding; 5) Appropriate additional funding for 174th Street Pedestrian Bridge project and 6) Record two purchase order carryovers in SW Fund.
