A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE
EXPENDITURE OF BUDGETED FUNDS IN AN AMOUNT
NOT TO EXCEED SEVENTY-TWO THOUSAND EIGHT
HUNDRED FOURTEEN DOLLARS AND NINETY-ONE
CENTS ($72,814.91) FOR THE PURCHASE OF SOFTWARE
LICENSING AND/OR PRODUCTS FROM SUPERION, LLC.
FOR FISCAL YEAR 2019/2020 FOR POLICE SOFTWARE
SYSTEM MAINTENANCE AND SUPPORT; AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO
EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on May 18, 2006, via Resolution No. 2006-919 the City Commission
approved an agreement with SunGard HTE, Inc. (SunGard) to obtain a perpetual, non-exclusive,
nontransferable license for the use of certain computer software and related software technical
support services to assist the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department in the implementation of the
System; and
WHEREAS, this state-of-the-art Police computer system provides the Police Department
with a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System, Records Management System (RMS), Mobile
Computing Terminals (MCT) and a Mobile Field Reporting (MFR) System; and
WHEREAS, this proprietary software solution has proven to be the leader in public
safety software in Miami-Dade County as well as many other cities and states throughout the
country; and
WHEREAS, SunGard HTE, Inc. (SunGard) legally changed its corporate name to
Superion, LLC.; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to expend budgeted funds in an amount not to exceed
Seventy-Two Thousand Eight Hundred g Fourteen Dollars and Ninety-One Cents ($72,814.91) to
allow staff to contract with Superion, LLC. for Fiscal Year ear 2019/2020 for the annuals software
are
maintenance and support for these critical Police Department systems.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA,AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval of Expenditure. The City Commission hereby approves the expenditure
of budgeted funds in an amount not to exceed Seventy-Two Thousand Eight Hundred Fourteen
Dollars and ne Ninet -OCents to allow staff
Y ($72,814.91) to contract with Superion,p on, Inc. for
Fiscal Year 2019/2020 for the Police Department
Software System Maintenance and Support.
Section 2.
Authorization of City
Manager.g The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.

Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution will become effective upon adoption

ORECOMMENDATION:
It- is recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached
Resolution approving the expenditure of budged funds, in an amount

not to exceed on thepurchase of software licensingand/or
$72,184.91
products from Superion.
REASONS:
•
The City entered into an agreement with Superion in May 2006 (via
Resolution 2006- 919) for the purchase of a state- of- the- art Police
Computer system (called OSSI) that provides the Police Department
with a _.Computer Aided Dispatch ( CAD) System Records
Management System (RMS), Mobile Computing Terminals (MCT) and
a Mobile Field Reporting ( MFR) System. This proprietary software

annual software maintenance and support for these critical Police

FUNDING SOURCE:
OFunding was budgeted and- is available under the Information
