A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE
PURCHASE AUTHORITY FROM SOUTH DADE
ELECTRICAL SUPPLIES, INC. FOR PURCHASE OF
ELECTRICAL SUPPLIES FOR THE CAPITAL
IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT AT THE INTRACOASTAL
PARKS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FORTY
THOUSAND DOLLARS (540,000.00); AUTHORIZING
WAIVER OF COMPETITIVE BIDDING PROCEDURES;
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS
NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City is in need of electrical supplies for the Capital Improvements
Project at the Intracoastal Parks; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 62 -12 of the City's Procurement Code, the City
Manager has recommended that it is in the best interest of the City to waive its formal
competitive bidding procedures due to time constraints and the urgent nature of the Intracoastal
Parks project; and
WHEREAS, the City is requesting purchase authority in an amount not to exceed Forty
Thousand Dollars ($40,000.00) in order to purchase electrical supplies from South Dade
Electrical Supplies, Inc.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Authorize the Purchase. The City Commission hereby authorizes the purchase of
electrical supplies from South Dade Electrical Supplies, Inc. in an amount not to exceed Forty
Thousand Dollars ($40,000.00), for the Capital Improvements Project at the Intracoastal Parks.
Section 2. Waiver of Competitive Bidding Requirements. The Competitive Bidding
Requirements of Chapter 62 of the City Code are hereby waived for the limited purpose of
utilizing South Dade Electrical Supplies, Inc. for the purchase of electrical supplies for
Intracoastal Parks due to time constraints.
Section 3. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.

Section 4. Effective Date. This Resolution will become effective upon adoption.

RE: Approval for the Authority to Purchase Electrical Supplies for the
Intracoastal Parks
RECOMMENDATION:
We recommend the City Commission approve the Resolution and waive the
competitive bidding requirements.
REASONS:
Staff is requesting approval to waive the competitive bidding process per code
62 -12 for purchase of electrical supplies from South Dade Electrical Supplies,
Inc. for the Intracoastal Parks. The City Commission may authorize the waiver of
competitive bidding procedures upon the recommendation of the City Manager
that it is in the City's best interest to do so. Purchases authorized by waiver
process shall be acquired after conducting a good faith review of available
sources and negotiation as to price, delivery and terms.
The City is working with time restraints and prefers not to delay this project.
Therefore the City would like to purchase electrical supplies from this vendor in
an amount not to exceed $40,000.00
