A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING A CONSULTING
PROPOSAL FROM CALVIN, GIORDANO AND ASSOCIATES, INC.
FOR PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT SERVICES RELATING TO THE
TOWN CENTER NORTH AREA IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED
SIXTY-EIGHT THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED EIGHTY DOLLARS
($68,480.00),ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT"A"; AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO
EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on October 17, 2019 via Resolution No. 2019-3006, the City Commission
adopted a Plan of Action to achieve conformity and consistency between the Comprehensive Plan
and the Land Development Regulations, as it relates to the Town Center District; and
WHEREAS, the next step in the Plan of Action calls for public engagement activities
("Services") relating to the future characteristics and vision of the proposed Town Center North;
and
WHEREAS, on January 19`11, 2017 via Resolution No. 2017-2654, the City awarded
Request for Proposals No. 16-12-01 to, and authorized the City Manager to negotiate and enter
into an agreement with, Calvin, Giordano and Associates, Inc. for Professional Planning and
Zoning Consulting services; and
WHEREAS, Calvin, Giordano and Associates have submitted a proposal to provide the
Services, in an amount not to exceed Sixty-Eight Thousand Four Hundred Eighty Dollars
($68,480.00), attached hereto as Exhibit "A".
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:

Approving a consulting proposal from Calvin, Giordano
RE: and Associates for Public Engagement
RECOMMENDATION:

This Resolution is recommended for approval.
REASONS:
The City Commission has requested that we commence a public
engagement process for the area now identified as the Town Center
North. Calvin, Giordano and Associates, Inc. has submitted a proposal
consisting of collecting data and creating an assessment of the existing
planning and zoning regulatory framework of the area, providing for
outreach through interviews and workshops with the public in general
• and stakeholders, and finally to articulate and provide for solutions
which are from the public feedback exercises. The final
recommendations will be presented to the City Commission for
potential actions regarding amendments or initiatives to the city's
planning and zoning regulatory framework. The proposal is for an
amount not to exceed $68,480.00 and the process is for approximately ,
four(4)months.
