A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY
ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CHIEF OF POLICE, IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE COMPREHENSIVE CRIME CONTROL ACT
OF 1984 TO EXPEND PARTIAL FORFEITURE FUNDS FROM THE
DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE(DOJ)FOR THE INSTALLATION OF SIX(6)
LICENSE PLATE READER SYSTEM CAMERAS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT
TO EXCEED ONE HUNDRED TWNETY-SIX THOUSAND THREE
HUNDRED NINE DOLLARS AND SEVENTY-EIGHT CENTS($126,309.78);
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984, the City
and its Police Department are authorized to expend forfeiture funds from the established Department
of Justice (DOJ) federal forfeiture account, for the approved programs or purchases intended to
enhance law enforcement purposes; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984 and Florida
Statutes §932.7055(5)(b) upon the request of the Chief of Police to the governing body of a
municipality,liens and forfeiture funds may be expended if accompanied by written certification that
the request complies with the provisions of the aforementioned subsections; and
WHEREAS,the Chief of Police has submitted a request for the installation of six(6)license
plate reader system cameras,in an amount not to exceed One Hundred Twenty-Six Thousand Three
Hundred Nine Dollars and Seventy-Eight Cents ($126,309.78) in forfeiture (DOJ) funds in
compliance with the aforementioned legal requirements.
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH,FLORIDA,AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Expenditure of Partial Federally Forfeited Monies. Based on the attached
certification, the Chief of Police is hereby authorized to spend up to One Hundred Twenty-Six
Thousand Three Hundred Nine Dollars and Seventy-Eight Cents($126,309.78)from the established
Department of Justice (DOJ) federal forfeitures account for the installation of six(6) license plate
reader system cameras.
Section 2. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 16th day of July 020.
