RESOLUTION NO. 2021 -
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF A
2020 FORD F550 BUCKET TRUCK FROM ALTEC INDUSTRIES, INC.
PURSUANT TO SOURCEWELL CONTRACT NO. 012418 -ALT, IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED ONE HUNDRED TWENTY-SEVEN
THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED THIRTY-ONE DOLLARS ($127,831.00),
ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS
RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach ("City") is desirous of maintaining the beauty
of the City through specialized projects requiring the use of a large -capacity bucket truck; and
WHEREAS, the City's current bucket truck is in need of repair and is nearing its useful
life cycle; and
WHEREAS, City Staff determined that due to the costs associated with performing truck
repairs and resulting downtime, the purchase of a new truck is in the best interest of the City; and
WHEREAS, Altec Industries, Inc. ("Altec"), a leading provider of top-of-the-line bucket
trucks, has advised that they have a contract under Sourcewell, f/k/a National Joint Powers
Alliance, Contract No. 012418 -ALT; and
WHEREAS, Section 62-13 of the City Code states that purchases made under
competitive bids with other governmental agencies, state general service administration contracts,
or federal, county or other governmental contracts are exempt from the City's bidding
requirement; and
WHEREAS, Altec has submitted a proposal for a 2020 Ford F550 Bucket Truck, in an
amount not to exceed One Hundred Twenty -Seven Thousand Eight Hundred Thirty -One Dollars
($127,831.00), attached hereto as Exhibit "A".
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval of Purchase. The City Commission hereby approves the purchase of a
Bucket Truck, in an amount not to exceed One Hundred Twenty -Seven Thousand Eight Hundred
Thirty -One Dollars ($127,831.00), attached hereto as Exhibit "A".
Section 2. Authorization of the City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do
all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution will become effective upon adoption.

RE: Resolution Approving Purchase of Vehicle from Altec
Industries, Inc.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff is recommending the City Commission approve the attached
Resolution.
REASONS:
The City of Sunny Isles Beach wishes to purchase an articulating
telescopic aerial device vehicle (aka 'bucket truck') from Altec
Industries, Inc.
The current 2012 bucket truck is rusted, in need of constant repair.
The 'extension arm' of the truck is in disrepair. The hydraulics are
compromised; creating a liability for the operator and continuing repair
expenses. The bucket truck vehicle is used by both Public Works and
Parks.
The City desires to purchase this vehicle from Altec Industries, Inc.,
using Sourcewell (formerly NJPA) Contract #012418 -Alt. Pursuant to
the City's procurement code provisions, purchases made under State,
County or other governmental contracts, or competitive bids with other
entities, are exempt from the City's competitive bidding procedures.
The total cost for the vehicle and delivery is in the amount of
$127,831.00
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds have been appropriated in account no. 110-5-5410-464200-
00000.
