A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF H
FRAME OUTRIGGERS FOR THE CITY'S BUCKET TRUCK FROM
ALTEC INDUSTRIES, INC. PURSUANT TO SOURCEWELL
CONTRACT NO. 012418-ALT, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED
EIGHT HUNDRED TWENTY-FOUR DOLLARS ($824.00), ATTACHED
HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on January 21, 2021, via Resolution No. 2021-3155, the City Commission
approved the purchase of a 2020 Ford F550 Bucket Truck ("Truck") Altec Industries, Inc.
("Altec"), in an amount not to exceed $127,831.00; and
WHEREAS, upon further research, City staff determined that an additional piece of
equipment known as H Frame Outriggers ("Outriggers") were necessary to stabilize the Truck
when in use; and
WHEREAS, in order to ensure the safety and welfare of City employees operating the
Truck, the City Manager determined that it was in the best interest of the City to purchase the
"Outriggers"; and
WHEREAS, Altec has submitted a proposal for the purchase of the Outriggers, in an
amount not to exceed Eight Hundred Twenty -Four Dollars ($824.00), bringing the total purchase
amount not to exceed One Hundred Twenty -Eight Thousand Six Hundred Fifty -Five Dollars
($128,655.00), attached hereto as Exhibit "A".
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval of Purchase. The City Commission hereby approves the purchase of the
H Frame Outriggers, Eight Hundred Twenty -Four Dollars ($824.00), bringing the total purchase
amount not to exceed One Hundred Twenty -Eight Thousand Six Hundred Fifty -Five Dollars
($128,655.00), attached hereto as Exhibit "A".
Section 2. Authorization of the City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do
all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution will become effective upon adoption.

Request for Purchase Approval of Additional Equipment for the City's
Bucket Truck
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff is recommending approval of this Resolution.
REASONS:
The City of Sunny Isles Beach wishes to purchase an articulating telescopic aerial device
vehicle (aka 'bucket truck') from Altec Industries, Inc., using Sourcewell (formerly NJPA)
Contract #012418-Alt. Pursuant to the City's procurement code provisions, purchases made
under State, County or other governmental contracts, or competitive bids with other entities,
are exempt from the City's competitive bidding procedures.
This purchase was passed via Resolution 2021-3155 on January 21, 2021. However, upon
further research of this vehicle, for an additional amount of $824.00 the vehicle could be
equipped with H Frame Outriggers. This additional equipment (aka 'Outriggers') work to keep
a vehicle from tipping even when it is unbalanced. By providing external support, properly
positioned outriggers prevent an unbalancing shift of weight.
The additional cost in the amount of $824.00 will bring the total cost for the vehicle and
delivery is in the amount of $128,655.00.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds have been appropriated in account no. 110-5-5410-464200-00000.
