A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO SIGN OR RENEW ALL REQUIRED CONTRACTS,
AGREEMENTS, AND PURCHASE ORDERS THAT AFFECT THE
HEALTH, SAFETY, OR WELFARE OF THE CITY, DURING THE
SUMMER RECESS PERIOD FROM THE LAST CITY COMMISSION
MEETING IN JULY 2021 THROUGH THE FIRST REGULAR
COMMISSION MEETING IN SEPTEMBER 2021, SUBJECT TO AFTER -
THE -FACT RATIFICATION AT THE SEPTEMBER 16, 2021, CITY
COMMISSION MEETING; REQUIRING LEGAL REVIEW BY THE
CITY ATTORNEY FOR SAID CONTRACTS AND AGREEMENTS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Sunny Isles Beach City Commission is not scheduled to meet between
July 16, 2021, and the next regular meeting on September 16, 2021; and
WHEREAS, there may be new or existing contracts that require approval during the time
period between the last City Commission meeting in July 2021 and the first regular meeting in
September 2021; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to assign certain powers to the City Manager
to enable him to sign all required contracts, agreements, and purchase orders that affect the
health, safety, or welfare of the City, during the time period between the last City Commission
meeting in July 2021 and the first regular meeting in September 2021, and requiring legal review
by the City Attorney for said contracts and agreements prior to execution by the City Manager;
and
WHEREAS, the City Manager will report back to the City Commission at the first
regular City Commission meeting on September 16, 2021, seeking after -the -fact ratification of
any actions relating to the foretasted authorization.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:
Section 1. Authority of City Manager and City Attorney. The City Manager is hereby
authorized to sign or renew all required contracts, agreements, and purchase orders that affect the
health, safety, or welfare of the City during the summer recess period, from the last City
Commission meeting in July 2021 through the first regular City Commission meeting in
September 2021, subject to after -the -fact ratification at the September 16, 2021, City
Commission meeting, and requiring legal review by the City Attorney for said contracts and
agreements prior to execution by the City Manager.
Section 2. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.

RE: Authorization of the City Manager to Approve Required Contracts,
Agreements, and Purchase Orders During the Summer Recess
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this Resolution.
REASONS:
The City Commission is not scheduled to meet between July 16, 2021, and the next regular meeting of
September 16, 2021, and there may be new or existing contracts that require approval during that
time period. This Resolution authorizes the City Manager to sign or renew all required contracts,
agreements, and purchase orders that affect the health, safety, or welfare of the City during this
period, and it requires legal review by the City Attorney for said contracts and agreements.
The City Manager will report back to the City Commission at the first regular City Commission meetinj
of September 16, 2021, seeking after -the -fact ratification.
