A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, PROVIDING AN IN -KIND
DONATION FOR USE OF THE CHIEF FRED MAAS BASEBALL FIELD
AT PELICAN COMMUNITY PARK AND PERSONNEL COSTS TO THE
SIMCHA CHAPTER OF HADASSAH FOR THEIR ANNUAL "MADI
THALER WALK FOR CANCER" IN OCTOBER 2014, IN AN
ESTIMATED AMOUNT OF ONE THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED SIXTY -
EIGHT DOLLARS ($1,168.00); AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS
RESOLUTION: PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, for the third year in a row, the Simcha Chapter of Hadassah in Sunny Isles
Beach is hosting a walk -a -thon to raise money for cancer research in the name of their former
President, Madi Thaler; and
WHEREAS, the Simcha Chapter of Hadassah completely plans and manages the event
however they are in need of a place to start and end their event as well as support by the Police
Department to ensure a safe walking route; and
WHEREAS, the Simcha Chapter of Hadassah has proposed Sunday, October 5, 2014 for
the event, and requested use of the Chief Fred Maas Baseball Field at Pelican Community Park
from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; and
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach wishes to provide an in -kind donation for use
of the Chief Fred Maas Baseball Field and for Police and Cultural and Community Services
support by the Simcha Chapter of Hadassah, in an estimated amount of Three Hundred Dollars
($300.00) for use of the Field, and Eight Hundred Sixty -Eight Dollars ($868.00) for personnel, in
a total estimated amount of One Thousand One Hundred Sixty -Eight Dollars ($1,168.00).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval of Donation. The City Commission hereby approves the donation of in-
kind support for the Simcha Chapter of Hadassah to utilize the Chief Fred Maas Baseball Field at
Pelican Community Park and City personnel for the Annual "Madi Thaler Walk for Cancer" in
October 2014, in a total estimated amount of One Thousand One Hundred Sixty -Eight Dollars
($1,168.00).
Section 2. Authority of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.

Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.

Simcha Chapter of Hadassah is requesting permission to hold our annual
Madi Thaler Breast Cancer Walk- A -Thon, October 5, 2014 in the beautiful
city of Sunny Isles Beach.
The event would launch from and return to Pelican Park from 8:00am till
2:30p.m.
Your past co- operation and donation -in -kind has aided the Hadassah HMO
Breast Cancer Research Program.
We appreciate your past partnership in this very special and important
community awareness program and hope to be approved this year with
your generosity to our dedicated cause.

In -Kind Donation to the Simcha Chapter of Hadassah for use of
City Facility
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Commission approve the attached resolution to
provide an in -kind donation of the use of the Chief Fred Maas Baseball Field at
Pelican Community Park to the Simcha Chapter of Hadassah for their annual
"Madi Thaler Walk for Cancer" in October 2014.
REASONS:
For the third year in a row, the Simcha Chapter of Hadassah in Sunny Isles
Beach is hosting a walk -a -thon to raise money for cancer research in the name
of their former President, Madi Thaler. Although completely planned and
managed by the organization, they are in need of a place to start and end their
event as well as support by the Police Department to ensure a safe walking
route.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Hadassah has proposed Sunday, October 5, 2014 for the event. The requested
hours of usage are 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The estimated amount for the use of
the field is $325.00. At this time there is no estimated lost revenue as there are
no other requests for use of this space for this date /time.

No funding is required for the use of the space. Estimated in -kind personnel
costs for Police and Cultural and Community Services support will not exceed
$200.00 which funds are available in the Personnel costs for each respective
department.
