A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE
PURCHASE OF TWENTY -ONE (21) ADDITIONAL
DECORATIVE STREET SIGN POSTS FROM GRAPHPLEX
SIGNS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FIVE THOUSAND
ONE HUNDRED SIXTY DOLLARS ($5,160.00), ATTACHED
HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO
EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on November 21, 2013 via Resolution No. 2013 -2156 the City Commission
awarded Bid No. 13 -10 -01 to GraphPlex Signs for the purchase of two hundred (200) Decorative
Street Signs and Posts, in an amount not to exceed Ninety -Four Thousand Dollars ($94,000.00);
and
WHEREAS, the City now desires to purchase additional decorative street sign posts for
continuity and beautification of the City; and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to purchase twenty -one (21) additional decorative street
sign posts from GraphPlex Signs, in an amount not to exceed Five Thousand One Hundred Sixty
Dollars ($5,160.00), attached hereto as Exhibit "A ".
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval of Purchase. The City Commission hereby approves the purchase of
twenty -one (21) additional decorative street sign posts from GraphPlex Signs, in an amount not
to exceed Five Thousand One Hundred Sixty Dollars ($5 ,160.00), attached hereto as Exhibit
"A»
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 15th day of May 2014.

RE: Approve the Purchase of 21 Additional Posts for the Decorative Street
Signs
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Staff is recommending the City Commission approve the attached resolution.
REASONS:
The City of Sunny Isles Beach in its effort to be rated a first class City, was in need of
new and improved signage for both pedestrians and motorist. Staff requested to award
the Bid Number 13 -10 -01 to GraphPlex Signs for 200 —4x4 custom street signs and poles
in an amount not to exceed Ninety -Four Thousand Dollars. ($94,000.00)
Upon further inspection, the City needed 21 additional poles ( "units "). The additional units
came to a total of Five - Thousand One Hundred Sixty Dollars. ($5,160.00) Thus making
the total amount not to exceed Ninety -Nine Thousand One Hundred Sixty Dollars
($99,160.00)
There was a lower bidder, however the lower bidder was disqualified due to the prepared
mock -up not being of sufficient quality.
Even with the additional 21 units, GraphPlex Signs cost is below the original base bid
amount.
