A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH,
FLORIDA, APPROVING AN INCREASE IN SPENDING AUTHORITY WITH CALVIN,
GIORDANO AND ASSOCIATES, INC. FOR THE NEWPORT FISHING PIER CLEANUP
SERVICES, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED TEN THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED
EIGHTY-FOUR DOLLARS ($10,584.00); AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City is in need of a contractor to provide cleanup services for the
Newport Fishing Pier; and
WHEREAS, Calvin, Giordano and Associates, Inc. have proven to be willing and able to
perform said services; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission now wishes to approve an increase in spending
authority with Calvin, Giordano, and Associates, Inc., for the Newport Fishing Pier Cleanup
services in an amount not to exceed Ten Thousand Five Hundred Eighty -Four Dollars
($10,584.00).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY
ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Approval of Increase in Spending Authority. The City Commission hereby
approves an increase in spending authority with Calvin, Giordano, and Associates, Inc., for the
Newport Fishing Pier Cleanup services in an amount not to exceed Ten Thousand Five Hundred
Eighty -Four Dollars ($10,584.00).
Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all
things necessary to effectuate this Resolution.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution will become effective upon adoption.

SIB - Submerged Lands Pier Clean-up for Calendar Year 2022
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
1. SCOPE OF SERVICES
Calvin, Giordano & Associates, Inc. will perform the following services based on
our understanding of the project requirements:
I. Professional Environmental Services
A. CGA will provide an in -water diver to conduct the collection of
thetrash/debris around the Sunny Isles Beach Pier. Items too large to be
collected and placed in a drop bucket will be flagged for later retrieval by
the City.
B. CGA will complete a clean-up report with photographs of the trash and an
estimate of the cubic yards of trash collected, and submit the report to
FDEP.
C. CGA understands the City will provide surface support to spot the diver and
empty the lift buckets and dispose of the trash.
D. Clean up will be conducted quarterly on the following schedule for calendar
year 2022: February, May, August and November.
E. Cleanups will be billed on a quarterly basis at $2,520 per quarter plus
reimbursable.
2. BASIS OF COMPENSATION
Hourly rates with an estimated fee of $10,080.00 plus reimbursables at $504.00
with a total not to exceed amount of $10,584.00. Payments to be made monthly.

MEMORANDUM

RE: Quarterly Pier Clean Up with Calvin, Giordano & Associates, Inc.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this Resolution.
REASONS:
As per our permit with the State for the Newport Fishing Pier at 16501 Collins Avenue, we are require(
to perform a quarterly clean up of the area underneath the pier, and provide the state with a report of
the findings during that clean up.
Calvin, Giordano & Associates, Inc. provides this service and has been doing so to the satisfaction of
the City. Therefore, we request the authority to engage with them to provide this service for the 2022
calendar year.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This service is considered a professional service. The proposal for 2022 includes four (4) clean ups, and
is for ten thousand, five hundred and eighty-four dollars ($10,584.00).
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding is budgeted and available in 001-6-5720-434041-15000.
