A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH,
FLORIDA, ACCEPTING THE RESULTS OF THE SPECIAL ELECTION RUN-OFF WHICH WAS
HELD ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 2022, DECLARING JERRYJOSEPH TO BE ELECTED AS
COMMISSIONER FOR SEAT 1, AND FABIOLA STUYVESANT TO BE ELECTED AS
COMMISSIONER SEAT 3; DISCHARGING THE CANVASSING BOARD FOR THE SPECIAL
ELECTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach ("City") held a Special Election on Tuesday, January
25th, 2022, and a subsequent run-off election on February 8th, 2022, to fill the vacancy of
Commissioner Seat 1 and Commissioner Seat 3; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 2021-3223A designated Gloria Taft to be the registered voter to
serve on the Canvassing Board, along with the City Manager and the City Clerk, whom served as
the Chairperson; and
WHEREAS, the Canvassing Board met on February 11th, 2022, and proceeded to publicly
canvass the votes cast for the candidates in the Run -Off Special Election, and certified the results;
and
WHEREAS, Jerry Joseph and Fabiola Stuyvesant were sworn -in by the City Clerk on Friday,
February 11th, 2022, and formerly entered into the discharge of their duties.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES
BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Acceptance of Results of Special Election. The City Commission of the City of
Sunny Isles Beach hereby accepts the results of the Run -Off Special Election held on February 8th
2022, as follows:
For Commissioner Seat 1, the whole number of votes cast was 1,562, of which number
Jerry Joseph received 870 votes or 55.7% of the votes
Johana Rabinovich received 692 votes or 44.3% of the votes
For Commissioner Seat 3, the whole number of votes cast was 1,536, of which number
Greg Capra received 762 votes or 49.61% of the votes
Fabiola Stuyvesant received 774 votes or 50.39% of the votes
Section 2. Discharge of the Canvassing Board. The City Commission of the City of Sunny Isles
Beach hereby discharges Gloria Taft, Member; City Manager, Member; and City Clerk, Chairperson,
as the City of Sunny Isles Beach's Canvassing Board for the Special Election and its Run -Off Election.
Section 3. Effective Date. This resolution shall become effective upon adoption.

RE: Accepting the Official Results of the Special Election for Commission Seats 9
&3
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of this Resolution.
REASONS:
A special election was held on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, to fill the vacancy of Commission Seat 1 &
3. This Resolution accepts results of said election declaring Jerry Joseph and Fabiola Stuyvesant a!
Residential Area Commissioners Seat 1 and Seat 3, respectively. This resolution also discharges the
Canvassing Board.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
The Canvassing Board certified the results on Friday, February 8, 2022. As a result, both Commissione
Joseph and Commissioner Stuyvesant entered into the discharge of their duties.
