HomeMy WebLinkAboutReso 2022-3318RESOLUTION NO. 2022 - A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING A CHARITABLE CONTRIBUTION TO THE SUNNY ISLES BEACH SOCIAL SENIORS EVENTS, INC. A 501(C)(3) CHARITABLE ORGANIZATION; PROVIDING THE CITY MANAGER WITH THE AUTHORITY TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Sunny Isles Beach ("City") has a tradition of participating in and assisting various social services programs of interest to the residents and guests of the City; and WHEREAS, the Sunny Isles Beach Social Seniors Events, Inc. ("Social Seniors") is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that offers monthly social and recreational gatherings for senior citizen residents of the City and guests alike; and WHEREAS, the City is committed to serving the community as a whole, regardless of one's age, race, religion or ethnicity; and WHEREAS, Social Seniors provides social and recreational activities as well as informational seminars on medical, financial and other matters of importance to the City's senior citizens; and WHEREAS, the City wishes to continue its tradition of giving contributions to charitable organizations within the City, and wishes to give a charitable contribution to Social Seniors, in an amount of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00). NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Authorization of Donation. The City Commission hereby authorizes a charitable contribution to Social Seniors in the amount of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000.00), subject to the following terms and conditions: 1. 100% of the $10,000.00 charitable contribution shall be used for programs; 2. The $10,000.00 charitable contribution shall be paid in full within 30 days of approval by the City Commission; 3. Social Seniors shall provide residents of the City with some form of special pricing, or discounts; 4. The City shall be named as a sponsor in all Social Seniors materials provided that materials are reviewed and approved by the City; 5. Social Seniors shall make available to the City or its representative all required financial records associated with this Resolution for a period of Three (3) years. @BCL@A00540D5.doc Page 1 of 2 Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate the terms of this Resolution. Section 3. Effective Date. City Manager DATE: April 12, 2022 RE: Approving a $10,000 Donation to Social Seniors RECOMMENDATION: Adopt the Resolution. REASONS: The City has been donating a $10,000.00 charitable contribution to the Sunny Isles Beach Social Senio Events, Inc. ("Social Seniors") annually since 2013-2014 FY. If approved, this monetary donation will be made with the following terms and conditions: 1. 100% of the $10,000.00 charitable contribution shall be used for programs; 2. The $10,000.00 charitable contribution shall be contributed in full within 30 days of approval of the City Commission; 3. Social Seniors shall provide residents of the City with some form of special pricing or discounts; 4. Social Seniors shall name the City as a financial sponsor in all Social Seniors materials; S.
