FOR THE PURCHASE OF COMPUTER LICENSES AND UPGRADES TO THE POLICE DEPARTMENT COMPUTER NETWORK, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED EIGHTY-EIGHT THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED TWENTY DOLLARS ($88,520.00), ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, on May 18, 2006, via Resolution No. 2006-919, the City Commission approved an agreement with SunGard HTE, Inc. ("SunGard") to obtain a perpetual, non- exclusive, non -transferable license for the use of Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System, Records Management System (RMS), Mobile Computing Terminals (MCT) and a Mobile Field Reporting (MFR) System and related support services (collectively "Software") for the City of Sunny Isles Beach ("City") Police Department's computer network; and WHEREAS, this proprietary Software solution has proven to be the leader in public safety software in Miami -Dade County, as well as many other cities and states throughout the country; and WHEREAS, SunGard is now doing business as CentralSquare Technologies, LLC. ("CentralSquare"); and WHEREAS, the Police Department wishes to upgrade the Software and purchase additional licenses for new police officers; and WHEREAS, City staff has identified CentralSquare as the sole source vendor of the Software; and WHEREAS, Section 62-13(F) of the City's Code of Ordinances provides that supplies, equipment, or services available only from a sole source may be exempted from the bidding requirements of Chapter 62; and WHEREAS, the City Commission now wishes approve the expenditure of budgeted funds with CentralSquare for the purchase of computer licenses and upgrades to the Police Department's computer network, in an amount not to exceed Eighty -Eight Thousand Five Hundred Twenty Dollars ($88,520.00), attached hereto as Exhibit "A". NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Approval of Expenditure. The City Commission hereby approves the expenditure of budgeted funds with CentralSquare for the purchase of computer licenses and upgrades to @BCL@OOODF798.Doc Page 1 of 2 135 the Police Department's computer network, in an amount not to exceed Eighty -Eight Thousand Five Hundred Twenty Dollars ($88,520.00), attached hereto as Exhibit "A". Section 2. Authorization of City Manager. The City Manager is hereby authorized to do all things necessary to effectuate this Resolution. Section 3. Effective Date. REASONS: The Police Department is seeking to expend an amount not to exceed $88,520.00 with Central SquarE for the following items: an electronic citation module ($44,495.00), additional computer licenses for newly hired police officers ($21,900.00), an upgrade to our current police computer system ($17,745.00), first year system maintenance fee ($4,380.00). This proprietary software solution has proven to be the leader in public safety software in Miami -Dade County, as well as many other cities and states throughout the country.
